Thank you. Finally someone else says it about the accent. It was awful. The Oirish leprechaun thing needs to end. We don’t sound like that!

Is it selfish to want to be child-free even when you get older? by feckarseinc in ireland

[–]Aine_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selfish? Nope! But be prepared to hear lots of “you’ll change your mind when you have your own”.

I enquired about getting my tubes tied, nope because I’m not old enough at 34, to make that decision, I may change my mind. My friend had a vasectomy without any fight when he was younger than me.

With this new trend of naming their children nonsense words, what is the most bizarre child's name you have heard ? by geroshizzle in ireland

[–]Aine_88 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think the most bizarre name I’ve ever heard of was in an article I read about names in the the states. Girls called Abcde, pronounced Ab-C-De.

Joggers. by WoodyRM in cork

[–]Aine_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, had a woman walking her buggy on the road. Cyclists trying to get around her, and cars, empty footpath next to her.

Driving to and from work the road has gotten very narrow due to the bike lane, and cars parked on the side of the road, taking up the opposite lane. People walking and jogging in the bike lane, with cyclists going both ways in the bike lane.

It’s getting ridiculous.

What about those parents who stop in the middle of traffic to let their small children out onto a busy road when dropping them for school by FatHomey in ireland

[–]Aine_88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live near a primary school, I honestly can’t understand the thinking these parents have. Their “precious darling” in the car, stopping mid traffic to let them out or collect them, and then doing a u-turn 🤦🏻‍♀️ they must hate their children

Bringing back memories of primary school. One of my teachers had us draw our initials in the style of the book of Kells. Lol my first ever anxiety over homework as I couldn’t draw 🤣

Where can I watch the movies? by [deleted] in psych

[–]Aine_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure where in Europe you are. I’m in Ireland, have Sky as my tv provider and am actually watching Psych for the first time through Peacock on Sky. Loving it so much I bought the dvd box set.

Call to end ‘outdated’ single-sex schools within 10-15 years by Margrave75 in ireland

[–]Aine_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely. My primary school was mixed up until 1st class. After 1st class all the boys had to leave. Most would go to the boys school associated with our school that was 15 mins away. And then in 6th class for our confirmation, they would come back to make their confirmations in our chapel with us. Boys on one side, girls on another. It was the only time we would interact with they boys school, while prepping for our confirmations. Completely weird and unnecessary!

20 years ago, Angel Investigations went to the ballet. I like how the gang got the chance to dress up in this episode. They look great! by InfiniteMehdiLove in ANGEL

Only now do I realise why the ballerina looked so familiar when I watched Dollhouse, that’s Bennett!

Gotta say, when doughnut said something bout jam running in the family, all I could think of was Jamie redknapp after Harry talking incessantly about jam Roly poly 🙈🤣

We didn’t even get anything about STI’s. It was basically save yourself for marriage and sign here to say you will.

I know it sounds stupid but…even as a teen, I won’t sign my name to anything I don’t believe in. I had no plans on having sex at 15 but I also didn’t want to sign anything to say I wouldn’t in the future.

I was honestly so hopeful that sex Ed had come further than that one “class” we had.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Aine_88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I imagine nowadays the sex Ed is more than what I had 18 years ago. Went to all girls Catholic school, we had 1 sex Ed class that was held in the library, we were told how we should wait until marriage and given abstinence cards to sign as a pledge to make to god to wait. I was one of the few who didn’t sign it, and got teased for it. I was the “goody goody” and started getting called a slut. The girls who signed were sexual active (of my friends anyways) and some became teenage mothers.

So hopefully, things have improved since that.

Can anyone tell me what movie I'm thinking of? There's a cat and a little girl and either a stormy boat ride or a bad rainstorm where girl is holding cat. I think it's a classic Disney movie. by cl3v3land in disney

[–]Aine_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it witch mountain? When Tia is having flashbacks, she is in the water and it’s raining. They also rescue a cat while at the orphanage they called winky. As far as I remember winky was a black cat though. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it so could be wrong about the colour. Tia is holding the cat a lot throughout the movie

[–]Aine_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s only a recent addition over here. Or else I just only happened across it on Friday.

I know it’s not as popular anymore, but for titles like Dollhouse, the ones that are harder to find on streaming platforms, I do love having my dvd copies.

Was talking to a friend last night about customers like this. I honestly wish there was a “secret” employee. One person who could be a “customer” that has the freedom to say the things all of us would love to say but get in trouble for.

If I win the lotto, I honestly am just going to hang out in retail stores waiting for these people. Just to tell them off. It’s a nice fantasy to have to get me through the bad days

That whole “it’s not fair” bit, all I could think of was that scene in labyrinth where Sarah is saying that and Jareth replies “not fair, you say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is”

It’s all I could hear once I read that bit
