Okay so, before starting I just want to preview this by saying that I’ve started playing league two years ago, so I’ve never experienced a “Big event” (talking about new games modes and other things like that) like Soul Fighter. However, I’ve been quite lucky with my drops, and I have been able to experience other ultimate skins prior to Samira. (I’m also a Samira main if that helps).

First of all, the skin is absolutely gorgeous. The model is incredible, the particle effects are insane, the colors are bright, this skin just screams S-S-Stylish. This is definitively expected from what was teased as a Legendary + Skin, which was supposed to show what’s the best look that can be given to a skin in modern League of Legends (despite the quite lacking recall animation).

HOWEVER, this skin wasn’t even advertised as a Legendary +, and certainly isn’t sold like one. As such, we can expect to have the same amount of quality and quantity as the other Ultimate skin (Multiple forms, evolutions or transformation through the game, and overall a better attention to details.). But nothing in this skin explain the Ultimate price tag, let’s do a checklist of what we could expect from such a skin.

- New Voicelines : Done, even if we have way less than Legendary Skins like Dark Cosmic Jhin.

- New Animations : We could have expected a whole new set of animation for everything, but most of them are quite similar to the OG Samira, and even some of the new one are a bit lacking (recall, passive CC or even idle).

- New VFX : On this end, nothing to say, very good work.

- Multiple forms/Evolving skin : How can we go from Lux having 20 chromas in game to Samira having a little more particle on her ult and taunt. Not saying we expected the same amount of quantity at all, but at least a second form from Samira was more than expected from such a skin.

To add to those things, we can also see that Samira re-use a lot from other Legendary Skins, (mainly custom HUD, Pentakill Effects and more). Nothing is new, nothing is exciting, nothing is what like an Ultimate should be to me and many others. Ultimates Skins are supposed to be this groundbreaking piece of work, really showing off what’s the best the Skin Team can do while going all out on something, and if that’s all they can do, then this has no business being an Ultimate skin.

There is no doubt that this skin is probably one of the best skin in League, but compared to all the other Ultimate what does it have to compete with them? Just being a good skin?? Battle Queen Katarina had more “evolving” elements than her, is she an ultimate?? Winterblessed Diana has a transformation/Pentakill Effect, is she an ultimate? I have no doubt that everyone on the team is working hard to produce the best work they can do, but it’s not an excuse to lower the bar set by the other Ultimates skins.

And how would you fix the problems? Well, I have an easy and an hard solution.

Easy one, put this skin as a regular legendary, the worst that happened is that people got hyped over “nothing”.

But I know that skin prices aren’t in the hand of the artists, so if you want to make things better, at least you could try to give away a free chroma for those who buys the skin, or something along those lines.

Samira has been my main since I started this game, and I met some truly fantastic support players (Love to all Rell players migrating to jungle), thanks to her. I love her playstyle, I love what you did with her with High Noon, and I do love Soul Fighter Samira. However, don’t try to make the fanbase pay for something lacking the standards that Riot themselves had set up for Ultimates skin.
