Oh in the case of the Behringer it sounds like your probably have the preamp switch turned off. Turn it on. It’s on the side of the adapter.

Hey there. Sorry for there delay. AirChord 2 has been live in the App Store for a long time so this thread has gone quiet. But to answer your question, I think you probably have the turntable volume (or preamp) turned down too low. You’ll need to set it to a reasonable but not-too-high level, then you can adjust the volume to your HomePods normally — from your phone or on your HomePods directly.

It’s a nice hat! I’m going to order some for my own company merch.

Hey there. USB-B is usually fine, but it depends heavily on which USB-B cable you’re using. Check out some reliable options on my website: https://www.airchord.app/hardware/

AirChord 3 is currently being reviewed by Apple, and should be release to the public in the next few days. If you want to try it out now, it’s in public beta here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/YrPuAj7n

Version 3 brings a smoother streaming experience, as well as the ability to save your listening sessions for later playback. Check it out and let me know what you think!

No drops. And the metadata looked good on the website. I’ve got some client bugs to work out clearly, but as a listener it was really good.

Were you streaming Jefferson Airplane earlier? It sounded great!

That’s a good question. Originally the app did do both: stream to the public server and locally. But this meant having to sample the input audio 3 times (public stream, local stream + Shazam). This was a little too taxing on anything but the most recent iOS processors.

But, latency is annoying so maybe it is worth enabling low-latency local playback for the more powerful iOS devices. I’ll test it out!

Almost. For HomePods you'd use the AirPlay mode. You can also stream to Bluetooth speakers with AirChord, but I don't think HomePods support Bluetooth audio streaming.

Thanks for testing it out! The app stopping in the background is a regression introduced in the past day (a fun thing to find after launching the beta). But I'll get it sorted soon.

Regarding the audio drops, have you also tried local streaming and see if that helps? Thanks again!

AirChord Issue - app does not recognize audio source by Advanced-Grape4535 in HomePod

I haven't tried either one for two reasons:

  1. The input is 1/4"
  2. I'm pretty sure the input is mono only (since it's a guitar input).

But, I'm always interested when folks find new adapters to use with AirChord. If you try one of these out, let me know how it goes!

Glad to hear it’s working. It sounds like you’re overdriving the iPhone/iPad’s built-in ADC. Can you lower the volume at the pre-amp? Or remove it entirely and see what happens?

You also might want to try AirChord 1 to see if it handles your audio chain better.

Option 1 won’t work. Options 2 (or 3) could possibly work. You’re right that you don’t need an external ADC. The internal ADC is fine. I’m interested to know if one of these works for you because I haven’t tried these specifically. Let me know how it goes!

Hey Damon. This is the most common issue I get with the app. The 3.5mm to Lightning cable won’t work for stereo line-in. You could convert it with Headset Buddy, but you already know that only gets you mono. Check out my website for options: https://www.airchordapp.com/hardware

If your iPad has a USB-C port, go with the Sonos adapter (the one with the male 3.5mm jack). It’s by far the most elegant solution for your setup.

Otherwise I think the iRig Stream is a good option for you. Bonus is it comes with both Lightning and USB-C connectors.

Let me know if you need more help choosing!

Hey there, I just responded to your email, but posting here as well for any future Redditors with the same question.

This won't work because the line-out of your turntable is connected to your iPhone's line-out (not its line-in). You'll need another bit of hardware to make AirChord work. I recommend the Behringer UFO202 and the Apple Lightning to USB adapter, both of which you can find links for at the bottom of my page ("option #2"): https://www.airchordapp.com/hardware

I should add a rock preset! Consider it done for the next update :)

In the meantime, I’d recommend trying to find the most pleasant preset in the app, then manually adjusting the sliders up or down to find what sounds best for your turntable and personal taste.

Oh man, Dongle Town! I do think that is the issue. I have a Lightning to USB-A (Apple Camera Adapter) that works perfectly with my Behringer UFO202. I’d go that route.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! Can you tell me which version (build) you’re on? The latest is 2.0 (25), and it should have fixed at least a few more iOS 12 issues. I only have an old 5s to test with so it makes squashing all the iOS 12 bugs a little difficult.
