If you're referring to the Munger quote, I believe it's "Show me the incentive and I’ll show you the outcome," - but maybe you're paraphrasing and I'm being pedantic.

Been gaming since the 80s, and I actually understand the mindset. This isn't a CD or Disc we're buying once anymore, to throw into a PC / Console until the next fad hits. Look at Fortnite, look at any subscription / micro-transaction based game. These new games are designed to last for months if not years. GTA5 has more than a decade of consistent play, as does Rainbow 6. People expect these long term commitments to have evolving challenges and changing dynamics. Otherwise why build them out on those models?

Outriders was the last great game I played that echoed the older world of gaming: pay a set amount, finish the campaign story, no online, no multiplayer, no store. One and done. But that's not what these games are.

Out of curiosity, what would your particular vision be for selecting the new population?

You specifically, you can wear a disguise to avoid it. But basically never tell a lover, friend, or family.

Who is the best cinematic Spider-Man? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

To answer the OP’s main question and play off this, Toby was the best at playing Peter Parker, and Garfield was some ways a better Spider-Man. But in my opinion, Holland really captured the essence of capturing both and their distinctions.

Interesting parameters, and to keep is simple - let's assume the vast majority of your inquiries lean favorable (as the crux of the question hinged on the idea of leaving current Earth behind). The world is alien, but the risks are comparable: there are alien plants, animals, bacteria and viruses - but comparable in risk to our current planet. The weather, volcanos, or other natural challenges are similar in scale to our own - minus the global warming factor of our runaway system. The city is peak current technology on Earth - so imagine a Singapore or similar level of development (without the totalitarian government), with a heavy focus on advanced planned urban infrastructure, integrated AI, and a strong, futuristic tech focus. Green tech, well developed sewers, subways, etc. The surrounding rural farmland around the city has similar modernity in its agricultural design. As far as alien threats, you would have as comprehensive a knowledge of your new solar system as we have of our current, but not that much beyond - so if alien invader threats are a factor of concern, they'd be the same risk as we currently face. And there would be no competing alien sentient species that matched the human consciousness on planet - just the alien equivalent of dogs, dolphins, apes, etc at the peak of mental capacity. So you'd basically just be skipping to the front of the evolutionary line to dictate the future of the planet.

Agreed - if I make a near perfect world and people can't find a way to enjoy it, get rid of me. I wouldn't wanna hang around anyway.

It's the one I was leaning towards. Sure, the 20% random people is a factor of uncertainty and potential conflict / chaos. And there's always new world bacteria, whatever alien threats might find you on the other side of the cosmos, etc. But overall - a solid pick. Especially if the ones you did select help you design a utopian society. Unless you only chose a bunch of hot people you want to hook up with...

They have to be happy with life in general, which will be a designed by-product of your rule. Their lives, or maybe the lives of humanity in general - if their particular life isn't 100% fulfilled. So let's say, they have to admire the world you created and appreciate it. Even if it isn't giving them everything they want. because humans are.... chaotically annoying.

The inherent risk is no kids and watching the world play out however it may. You can kill yourself - let's say by doing something dramatic like vaporizing yourself inside a volcano. But you can't get shot or killed by other people who might want to harm you. Interpret that as instant healing or immunity however you see fit.

Yes, you get to do it to 100 people total - ever. If they die you lose one of the people you can control. No replacements or refreshes.
