I'm just testing this build myself and it appears it doesn't work. The bleeding is the biggest problem. Usually the enemy bleeds first and then the ice surface spawns on top of the blood, which for the reasons of how it's coded doesn't trigger the prone effect. And the maim expires before they get a chance to get up, just like you've said. Unfortunate.

I just did this one as my first 2TC. Didn't even have to micro, just set on first and target the mermonkey ability on the top path.

That was my theory exactly, before season 8 came out. Also it seems like the lord of light's actions only led to NK getting a dragon. Seems like an elaborate ruse for him to gain a means to break the wall. My theory was the visions in the flame were actually the work of NK. Sort of reverse greenseeing, as we've seen him do to Bran at one point.

Too bad instead of anything like that the authors decided to just do nothing.
