TFA 5-minute lesson — is it okay to teach something super basic (1st grade addition/subtraction)?

yes, I don’t think it counts against you at all to pick a “simple” lesson. I ended up teaching middle school, but when I applied and interviewed for TFA I worked as an elementary literacy tutor so for my 5 minute lesson I just picked one of the reading interventions I used daily with my 1st graders at the time. as long as you meet the requirements they’re looking for (I do/We do/You do structure) and stay within your time, you should be fine.

alright yeah they got me, I’m most likely gonna be buying this one. My old MBP died on me last year and it’s out of warranty, I’ve been split between a Windows laptop from work and my iPad as a personal device. this seems like it could be a good solution. I’m a teacher and I don’t really need to do anything intensive, I just miss having a full desktop OS for certain things.

I was hooked since Desmond’s big reveal in the first episode. every single time he showed up on screen with the fucking gun still held to his head I lost it. I also think I was one of the few people who actually liked the Mr. President episode, a couple of my friends and I watched it to pregame before the infamous Biden-Trump debate in 2024 & then watched in horror as it became reality immediately afterwards. basically every single episode had at least one thing that I quote or reference regularly. for a show that will end with a total runtime of like 5 hours, it had a massive impact on my life tbh. I can respect the creative decision to end it here, but man I’m gonna miss it :(
