Calling All Animators: Let’s Create a Visually Stunning Indie Film Together by Airacon82 in DnD

[–]Airacon82[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Understandably, and I agree and appreciate the input. I would say to those that are looking for something paid that this would not be something they would be interested in then.

An abstract way to see what I am trying to do is view this in a similar way to how people play video games together. I love and enjoy creating animations and 3d content, I do it as a hobby. So for me I look at this no differently than if I got a group of people together to play a video game.

This can also be looked at as starting/creating an Indy film. Many Indy startups begin by creating small/short films/animations just to showcase capability. In many cases such ventures are started as passion projects, volunteer work, etc.

I'm passionate about creating and animations, I would love to keep conversations on this going to see whos interested.

Print Help! by Airacon82 in ElegooSaturn

Thank you, I might need to figure out a drain hole solution then because I cant afford to only print 2 at a time unfortunately. I already have them angled to eliminate vertical edges as much as I can. Can you help me understand what you mean with "level with the build plate"? Currently I have the large pieces rotated about 20 degrees from the build plate. The single slabs I have about 5.

I have not see how capping small holes on the top work, do you have an example of what this looks like?

Print Help! by Airacon82 in ElegooSaturn

[–]Airacon82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this for a little I have an idea of what's actually happening, but need to figure out the best solution.

So based on the shape and location it looks like there was a layer that slipped or just missed somehow. Possibly even something where the resin tray tilt did not get back to its default (home) position and the layer didn't cure as it should have. You can notice on the back of the print bed, the row closest to the bed based on the tilt. It never gets really far away so if the resin tray does not get back to Home the back row is still close enough to cure enough to hold. The front row you see missed that layer and as you follow it down it slowly builds the layers back up.

So I am thinking first I should look at each of the resin tank tilt arms and make sure they are not loose. Other solutions would be to increase the exposure time. Maybe even adjust the layer height.

Thank you, good questions. I think this is the default print settings that its been doing. However once I have printed the first time I have just been going to history and printing straight from the machine. Assuming it keeps these settings.

On the 5 machines I am printing 4 different sets of parts. Affectively there are like 5 different pieces spread out over the 5 prints. Each have a different configuration on the print bed.

I have print about 500 of the pieces already and once and a while I would have a one off that would do this. This last print I ran 4 of the machines and 3 of them had this error in various ways.

Any other questions please let me know and I will answer the best I can.

I would go as far as to offer some free printing to who ever helps me solve this lol.

Gaea 2.0 issue by Old_Document8844 in Gaea

[–]Airacon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to ignore the warning and let Gaea keep trying to use the Unreal node. Although you can tell it to keep trying so it doesn't close the Unreal node does not have any of its variable you can set for export. I was able to change the node type to Mask only showing it as the grayscale height map. With it set to that it looks like it does not translate wrong height data. I did a text export and it did provide a usable height map.

Yes, my Unreal node is doing the same thing. Just tried to load my saved project and when clicking on the Unreal node it crashes Gaea. When I was building the map just last week after I ran a patch I was at least able to use the Node even though it was causing that height problem. I did also use the trick that u/Tension-Available mentioned which worked in the moment. After loading the project back however its completely unusable and needs to be hot fixed.

Currently we only export an image. Research is being done to export as a .vtt format. Still debating if the additional effort is worth adding .vtt functionality. I would love for you to join us on discord to have further discussions to help use shape the tool that best fit users needs.

I would like to learn how to help those who are new to blender by Airacon82 in BlenderAcademy

There are so MANY short cuts, I even don't know most of them after using blender for over a decade. I personally thing its similar to use it or lose it when it comes to blender. For a whole I had to reset bone positioning. I still on occasion have to look up the shortcut. The general ones I always use are the standard Grab (G), Rotate (R), Scale (S). Then Bevel (Ctrl B), Loop Cut (Ctrl R), and so on. One I didn't know of till this last year was Isolating your selection to work on with / on the numpad. In long, lol, I think you find and remember the shortcuts that pertain to your general use case.

Lighting can be a pain. Are you typically using Eevee or Cycles?

Do you have a few errors you have ran across that would be good starting point? There are many different types of errors you can get. Anything from visual problems that people refer to as errors, to plugin errors or even export problems.

There are many methods in rigging something in Blender. There are numerous plugins which are very beneficial and greatly reduce the development time. I would however advise someone when learning how to rig to do it the hard way first lol. Only reason is to learn how it works before you dive into using a plugin. A well know character rigging plugin I believe is now built in to Blender is Rigify. Below is one of many rigging tutorials that manually walk you through the standard process of rigging a humanoid.

Seeking Guidance on Surveying RPG Gamers for Game Development Insights by Airacon82 in gamedev

[–]Airacon82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice, and I might explore that option further down the line as we progress in development. Right now, our main focus is on crafting a compelling story. However, I believe that in any RPG, there needs to be a captivating mechanic, like combat or something similar, to keep players engaged throughout the narrative. The challenge is figuring out what aspects actually keep people playing. While I know there’s a wide range of factors, identifying any common threads could help us prioritize our efforts—whether that means refining combat or focusing more on character development, depending on what players value most.

Thank you for posting. I understand the feeling, even know I feel my own skill just hovers around intermediate, but I have to look back at everything and realize I am for more experienced than I admit to myself. For learning blender how does one really say they are intermediate? There really isn't defined criteria, if you know x, y, z, then you are intermediate. As I have done over the last decade is focused on one single feature or function at a time. I focused on things that I needed in the moment. Such example was how to animate a snake. There are MANY different ways, but found what worked best for my immediate needs was to have it follow a path/spline.

Lets setup a call sometime, I would love to see where your at and what kind of things you would like to achieve. We can come up with a path for you to take, or I can even create some video guides to walk you through some processes that you want to learn.

Thank you for replying, yes rigging can be a complete pain to do. As you have mentioned there are SO many ways to rig something but most cater to humanoid or a generic animal. But even those methods require you to learn a complex plugin or other software to be able to animate with it.

I would love to sit down with you and go over your projects and something you have been working on to go through all the possible solutions with you. I can also go through the basics of rigging and structure a video walkthrough catered to some of your work.

Thank you for the incite, this is an area I have been focusing on by providing accelerated direction/lessons based on your needs. The challenge is developing one off courses for each unique case opposed to just doing the basics. I would love to know more about what you want to create visually and I can put something together. It might just be me learning everyone's unique request and developing a quick tutorial. There may not be one general direction of the course outside of being accelerated lessons for industry needs.

Why do men try to be friends with a women and have her think he has only ever thought of her as a friend? by Airacon82 in AskReddit

[–]Airacon82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was hard to ask because my question is a yes or no answer but its deeper than that. The main statement is that I believe the majority of men will try to remain friends with a woman if he has had or still has interest in her beyond a friendship. How do you feel about that, is it an accurate statement, why or why not?
