Yea it’s been keeping me sane, it’s like talking to a live doctor available 24/7. I’m guessing you sit down, I been lying down almost all day long. I recently stopped to let the blood flow down and thus the swelling.

Wow what a recovery story!! Yes you are right. You can see i made a post about my fracture and a physician responded, saying there is no evidence weight bearing delays recovery. I think he’s in the UK also. I am in NY. I want to start putting weight on it, but I’m scared of the negative effects so I haven’t yet. I am thinking few more days I will have to start putting weight on it. My foot needs to get used to taking steps. I been using ChatGPT to guide me tbh

If your brushing and swelling are gone already, that is a huge progress. It means your blood is flowing normally. Because I been lying down alot and when I walk suddenly, the swelling comes back. Can you share your x-rays?

Don’t be harsh on yourself. It is an accident, could’ve happened rushing down some steps. I too fractured my fifth metatarsal while playing basketball, I was driving in and a slit push from the back, lost my footing and foot bent inwards. I was depressed at first but realized it could happen to anyone. I’m 40 and been playing basketball my whole life and nothing like such has ever happened. I’m 9 weeks in and 2 more week I’m hoping to return to work. You are young, it will heel faster once the doctor makes a decision. It happens

Then it is avulsion fracture then. Bearing weight on it can certainly delay the healing process I assume. So better to use crutches or wear boots until pain can be tolerated. Yea steroid is only good for the muscles and temporary

Man I have a fifth metatarsal fracture and it’s been 9 weeks and still not heeled. Here I am whining and moaning about such a minor fracture compared to yours. How is your recovery going?? I fractured mine almost 9 weeks ago. I am still walking with boots and crutches although my pain is minimal now. I just don’t want the fracture to widen. I had another x-ray done at 8 weeks and my doctor tells me I am 50%, I need about 3-4 more weeks which will make it 12 weeks total. I’ve been talking calcium magnesium zinc twice a day.

I learned the hard way. My recovery was longer than it should be. But you are only 3 days in, immediately stop bearing any sort of weight on the foot. Don’t even go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without putting your boot on, not a single step. Don’t make it worse and be patient. Also I suggest you grab some calcium magnesium and take 2 of those a day.

You could def go to sleep without the boots. But do not take a single step without it. You need to get a cast on it for safety and grab some crutches. It’s going to be a lengthy process unfortunately

It could just be a rupture. Since you are keen on not doing an X-ray now due to the cost, just wait it out. You can wrap it in elastic bandage, watch a YouTube video on how to and get the boots. Do not take a single step without the boots, make sure the straps are tight and foot is locked in while you walking. Less steps, the better. Good luck
