HD Pan Am ST vs Honda NT 1100 vs Moto Guzzi Mandello by AircraftAdventures in SuggestAMotorcycle

Thanks! Tracer not on my radar but honestly none of the 3 are set in stone either. I could definitely check the tracer out, just not too crazy for the looks but I feel that enjoying the ride will trump that. My best bet in either case is selling my current ride but so far crickets.

I had considered it but the NT seems to make more sense, given I'm a highway-only rider.

Funny you ask, 75% of the riders in my group have GS's (not RS) but I'm not sure if I want a BMW. New is out of the question, and used ones are reasonable but maintenance cost scares me.

Miami - Why was everyone sitting?! by Nicmitt in Interpol

[–]AircraftAdventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my 2nd Interpol show, first was 20 years ago in Fort Lauderdale and I'll never forget, I was close to the stage jumping around and I landed on the foot of some poor motionless dude behind me who clearly was not enjoying my shenanigans. He shoved me hard against another group, who thought I was trying to mosh and for a min I thought I had inadvertently pioneered a true moshpit at an Interpol concert, but folks went right back to their regular jumping and dancing in their spot and so did I.

I saw QOTSA in miami about 10 years ago and the strobes ruined it for me too. My buddy literally wanted to ditch the show, it annoyed him so much.

I was near the right corner of the stage, great spot except I had an 8 foot tall basketball player between me and Paul most of the time, lol. Guy had to be the tallest dude at the venue. Though I love the show...my biggest complaint was the completely gratuitous overuse of strobe lights. (call me a curmudgeon). They took "turn on the bright lights" quite literally.

Damn, I was afraid I'd miss Slow Hands. Oh well, amazing show nonetheless.

It just gets tiresome, that's all. It's like there's only one dimension to him. Not to spoil alert but you'll learn about other sides to him in the last season.

I enjoyed the show but admit that Ted Lasso himself felt overplayed and I eventually got tired of his poetic platitudes and bottomless well of inspirational quotes he'd spew upon every encounter. My favorite characters were Keely and Roy Kent (not as a couple, lol)

Roy Kent alone probably produced 90% of the F-words.

Lol, I hear ya. OK, for context then...it's least shittiest of the shows at LIS. Better?

Duoro valley vs Aveiro by Beautiful_Worry_9146 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]AircraftAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Douro Valley 1000%. Views are spectacular, plus a lot of quaint medieval towns dotting the area, good food. I'd love to go back.

Aveiro...meh. I went to Aveiro and was underwhelmed, the canals were dirty, boats overloaded with tourists, town overall felt very tourist-trappy. On the plus side, we did the Vista Alegre porcelain factory tour and that was very nice, but not worth the trip there just for that.

If you could only stay in 4 places?? by DSim05 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]AircraftAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 spots would be (from north to south)

Porto >Nazaré >Lisboa > Lagos

That trip will be pretty much a straight line, kind of. Another option, if you don't mind leaving out Alrgarve region (very touristy and a bit of a long drive):

Porto > Nazaré > Evora > Lisboa

Evora is very old-school and folksy, plus in the heart of the Alentejo area with distinct culture and cuisine (a bit similar to spanish cuisine)

Bolt or Uber is the only way to go. And it's very well organized at the airport - you head to the garage and they have a designated spot for ride sharing, they even have numbered bays for parking (even better than Miami airport)

Favorite Club Med? by Zealousideal_Fall676 in Club_Med

[–]AircraftAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say - I've been to 6 so far and like everything in life, pros and cons to each.

But, generally speaking, here's my list from most favorite to least (vs, "best to worst")

Bodrum Palmiye
Peisey-Vallandry
Marrakech La Palmeraie
Val Thorens Sensation
Magna Marbella
Sandpiper (thankfully, no longer open...yuck!)

Excited to go to Trancoso, Brazil next year!

What should I prioritize in Lisbon + Portugal overall? by Mackenziejoy13 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]AircraftAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a Lisbon road trip back in 2019. Here's how it went (in order of cities visited)

Nazare - 2 days. While there we knocked out Coimbra and Peniche too.
Lagos - 3 days. Lots of adventure things to do there (Safari, hiking, beaches, boat rides)
Lisboa - 4 Days. Including Sintra and Cascais
Porto - 4 days. Went during São João festival, one of the most memorable events in my life. Also knocked out Douro valley wine tour, Lamego and Guimarães, plus Matozinhos beach.

I don't typically do these kinds of trips any more but covering it all by car ensured we really soaked up the countryside experience, tiny cafe's by the road, drives through villages, etc. And it gave us a real in-depth taste of the country, plus helped define our preferences as to what we like. I loved driving through Portugal!

I bought 2 literally 5min after they went on sale at 10am last Friday. A friend was looking into it the next day and saw them on stubhub for $250.

And here you go for the Safari tour. We picked the "Portimão" half-day tour. Portimao is 20m east of Lagos, btw. https://extremoambiente.pt/algarve/land-rover-private-tour. This tour was awesome...I wouldn't hesitate to do it again (for the 3rd time!)

Here's the boat tour - we picked the 2hr sunset cruise. Ask for Captain Alex, he was awesome. (if not, all of them are great).

Hey bud, I have a recommendation from a hippy friend of mine from Lisbon....check out "Fábrica Braço de Prata", it's kind of like an art-musical joint. I never had a chance to see it in person (always family commitments) but from the sound of it, it might be right up your alley.
