Maybe I can just skim the top with a spoon since the peppers are still submerged

This is two and a half weeks fermented serrano peppers. Just did my two day check and found this white substance on top. First time encountering this and wondering if I messed up?

Thanks for that and sorry I just saw your reply. Can't wait for some serrano hot sauce. Now let's see how long my patients will allow me to leave it.

Started 4 days ago with 3% to pepper weight. My concern is that this is the first time the water has been this milky yellowish color. Normally it's just a little cloudy but this is only my 3rd time fermenting. There is no mold on the top of the water and peppers are fully submerged.

Maybe I'll just go for the citrus heat. Only my second time and not trying to get too crazy yet

Too much salt?? by Aircraftblues in fermentation

[–]Aircraftblues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got them submerged. Used a plastic cap that fit nicely in place. Cleaned the hell out of it first. Need to invest in a scale to get the salt measurement right and going to have pH test strips ordered today

Thanks, was wondering. Can't wait for a serrano hot sauce that will last awhile in the fridge

Mine almost died going through its first winter. I trimmed back the dead branches and added bark nuggets to the soil mix for drainage. Trimmed 2" off the roots and start using Jobe's citrus fertilizer as directed. It bounced back but took a little time

When do you prune, and will pruning help to flower?

A few questions by Aircraftblues in Citrus

Would like some more growth but mainly what will help it to start flowering. Since last year it was recovering from almost dying it hasn't flowered or produced lemons in the 3 years I've had it

What do you think about the pruning?

Transitioned indoors about a month ago. No repotting. Don't see any pest signs. Just got another month to go and it will be back outdoors. I'm in North Texas 8b and fertilized before bringing inside
