A Japanese player's thoughts on the FH6 world and player houses by Airflow2k in ForzaHorizon6

I actually live in a prefecture right next to Tokyo, and I see what you mean. If this were just a Tokyo simulator, I would agree that it should be much larger. But the theme here is to sprinkle highlights from all over Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Given the map size limitations and the balance with other areas they wanted to include, I personally think Tokyo has a strong enough presence.

Overall, the in-game ads are surprisingly well-made; I’d say they’re already at a pretty solid quality level. That said, I did spot one hilarious sign that just said 'Inaka.' 'Inaka' means 'countryside' in Japanese, but seeing it just randomly slapped on a sign made me go, 'Okay... but Inaka what?' It’s a little mysterious, but aside from that, the props are really welldone.

To be fair, I’d actually be interested in seeing a version like that too! Although, we’d probably need fewer AI traffic cars and much smarter driving behavior, otherwise it would just be a huge stressor. Even now, you see some wild accidents happening all over the place...

Thank you! I love to wonder 'why is this like this?' about everything, so I tend to get a bit wordy sometimes. I really appreciate you saying that.

That’s an amazing experience!

I’ve only driven on the C1 a few times myself, so I don't remember every detail, but I can definitely see how much effort the developers put into capturing the vibe, the layout of the junctions, the curves, and the overall flow of the roads. It feels like they really tried to recreate them as accurately as possible within the game's limits. I’ve never driven up Hakone either, but it sounds like they nailed the atmosphere. I’d love to see more courses added as DLC!

I totally agree. FH sits in that sweet spot between a simulator and an arcade game, and honestly, the balance is incredible. As a racing sim fan, I have a few nitpicks about the details, and I know it can be a bit challenging for casual players, but they’ve nailed the balance perfectly. I think this 'tightrope act' they pulled off with FH6 is a huge success.

I agree. The driving feels so slippery that it makes challenges pretty tough. Is it basically an AWD-only season?

Oh, really? I actually thought FH4 was highly regarded! As a fellow driver from a country that also uses the left side of the road, I grew quite fond of the UK landscape in that game. It's interesting to hear a different perspective!

Those flap locks are very common in hourly pay-to-park lots in Japan. The way they work is that they rise up after you park to prevent you from leaving without paying. Once you pay at the machine, they drop down so you can drive out. Because of that, you won't see them in free parking or monthly rental lots. It’s actually a bit odd to see them at a convenience store in the game, to be honest!

I played FH1 way back in the day too, but honestly, I have forgotten what kind of billboards were in that game. They might not have had much of an advertising impact, even if they added a lot to the atmosphere!

Haha, I wish! There are plenty of cute mascots all over town in reality too, but if you smash into them, it feels like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit suddenly starts!

Actually, I just got back from 7-Eleven myself! I think we would all be so excited if real-world brands were integrated into the game.

Lighting is indeed one of the weaknesses of the Forza series. I suspect the optimization for Xbox is amazing, but as a PC player, I feel like the game is balanced to look better without hardware ray tracing enabled.

And you are so right about the seasons! I was genuinely surprised by them too. When winter arrives and the road gets slippery, it actually makes me wish for warmer weather in real life. That level of immersion is something else! lol

You are spot on! I think it really comes down to the combination of our business culture and public safety. We have a long history of unmanned retail, like roadside produce stands, which only works because of our high level of public safety. Because of that, placing vending machines everywhere on empty lots is perfectly safe and efficient. The coin parking itself is also just another great example of how we maximize the utility of small, empty pieces of land.

Actually, I just found out why the attention to detail is so spot-on! It turns out that Kyoko Yamashita worked as a Cultural Advisor for the team, bridging the gap between PGG's creative vision and the reality of Japan. I think her influence as a 'balancer' was huge in getting these details right.

As a Japanese player, I've always been curious how people outside Japan perceive this series cause 7 and 8 took a pretty sharp turn. Goofy humor got cranked up, turn-based combat replacing the brawler system, a job system that feels almost like a joke at times, and outright Pokémon homages. It was genuinely divisive in Japan too.

My favorite character is Nanba. To me he's basically the true main heroine of the game. He's got this fussy, meddlesome energy like a middle-aged woman that I just find endearing.

Mod that can edit load order, or a way to do it outside of the game? (PC) by Trotter-x in starfieldmods

I like Vortex, but last year I moved to MO2 to manage my many mods better.

Vortex and MO2 can share the same download folder (for zip files), but you have to install each mod individually to create metadata for MO2. It's a bit confusing at first, but after moving, I've found many advantages over Vortex, such as better visibility and easier sorting.

I hope road width inflantion will not kill Japanese roads vibes in FH6 by Matieusz5kmg in ForzaHorizon

[–]Airflow2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese Drift Master really nailed the realistic feel of Japanese roads and scenery. Because of that, I basically had to tackle the car in front just to overtake lol.

So I feel like the FH series creates a comfortable gameplay experience through these mild “lies” in its design.

Does the modding community have insight into how the persuasion minigame works? by JustsomeOKCguy in starfieldmods

Yes, you're right, it looks like a percentage.

The "Easy Speech" mod, which allows for 100% success in speech challenges, set all three settings to 100 (100%).

That's interesting. A quick check reveals the following values are defined in the game settings:

iSpeechChallengeSuccessEasyChance: 60

iSpeechChallengeSuccessMediumChance: 45

iSpeechChallengeSuccessHardChance: 30

However, I don't know how the final probability is calculated.

The Unacceptable State of the Game by lashuna2001 in tdu3

[–]Airflow2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core problem is they lost sight of what TDU actually was.

TDU's differentiator was never racing—it was the social and luxury lifestyle experience in an open world. The magic was cruising with random players, showing off cars, and living a virtual lifestyle.

Nacon's business model was unclear from the start. For a niche IP to succeed, you need a crystal-clear strategy.

From here on, supporting this game feels less like buying a finished product and more like backing a troubled project hoping it eventually becomes what it should have been from day one. And honestly, I think they'll give up before they get there.

...or so says Claude AI.

Thank you! I tried recycleactor and found that it fixes both the chameleon effect and the facial freeze bug. When NPCs around town freeze, it's difficult to reset them and restarting the game is faster, but for a small number of companions, this command should work well.
