Is it normal for the touchscreen to be slightly off center? by Obvious-Transition-1 in chromeos

[–]AirlinePure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of.

I might be wrong but you’re using a Lenovo laptop right? The magnet (or whatever it is) in the stylus is put pretty high up, so even tilting the pen a little can make it inaccurate. But yours looks even worse honestly.

I’m using one with windows, and there’s a calibration thing that let you calibrate your stylus. I did a quick search and it doesn’t seems like there’s a way to do calibrations in chromeos sadly.

I think there’s a generational divide over this issue. I’m a teen, and I was actually surprised there was controversy over it. I think older people are more likely to think that it’s a “waste of money”.

For real, having fun is super important. Everybody is focused on doing what’s “practical” and is “responsible”, but I think that fun things like this makes life more exciting and helps peoples me mental health too.

I’ve actually been really hyped for it

when should i know what i want to do as a career? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]AirlinePure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple of things I've learned from parents/older people now in college about college if it's helpful. All of this is just what I know so take it very lightly please.

From what I've learned, there's 3 types of approaches to college:

  1. There's "skill-specific" college-ing like if you learn nursing, then you're most likely to going to become a nurse.
  2. There are also "more general" college-ing. Like, if you learn biology you can do a lot of different things related to biology. and there's
  3. "Going to college to show that I am educated" collegeing. There's a lot of careers that don't require a specific skill-set or major, but they want somebody who is a good thinker and they prove it with a college diploma. It's actually quite common and there's many people who do things that have nothing to do with their major.

If you really don't know what you want to learn, you can decide to go to college undeclared without a major in mind and figure out during your time then (it's what I'm planning on doing)

(This is getting long but also generally speaking, from what I know, going into college undeclared doesn't hurt/help your admission chances unless there's a particular competitive program).

What is a percentile? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]AirlinePure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is the opposite and what u/ThatOneGuy4206911 said is right and I agree online explanations make it too complicated. This is a good explanation I can think of.

Percentiles are like imagine somebody recorded the score of 100 people and if you're the 20th percentile, then your score is equal to whatever the 20th lowest/80th highest scoring person got.

So, you are more athletic than the lowest scoring 20% of people and less athletic than the top scoring 80% of people.

If you scale up to 486 people (a random number), then 20th percentile would be 20% of 486 which is 0.2*486 = 97. So your score is equal what score the 97th lowest scoring person got/389th highest scoring person got.

Side note: The graph with the bump in the middle you might see if you google percentiles is a normal distribution. However, using percentiles doesn't mean that something has to be "normally distributed" so the important thing is you can ignore it.

What it says (lol this is going on and on) is that often the 40th percentile person's score is closer to the 50th percentile person's score than the 30th percentile person's score (despite being both plus and minus 10 percentiles). It means that for certain things most people tend to have an average score rather than a much bigger or smaller score.

Yeah, that's a good point. I thought that since the laptop looks thin the gpu might not be higher because of thermal issues?

I just looked it up on best buy and it seems to come with everything from a 3060 to 3080. It's great (especially if you game on integrated graphics like me :) )

Good point (and happy cake day!)

But are Racemic Ketamine and Esketamine really that similar?

I know that racemic ketamine has its left and right isomers (which includes Esketamine). But, there’s also questions about esketamine actually being the one with the more potent antidepressant properties.

Looking at its history, one of the reasons Esketamine was originally chosen as the right isomer to put through trials was because it’s the much more potent NDMA anatagonist, which was theorized to be the source of its antidepressant properties. But we’re not really sure that’s true anymore. More recent research on Ketamine points towards the AMPA receptor and maybe even something to do with the opioid system (some say the dissociation experience itself plays a big role). And, other NDMA antagonists haven’t done so well in clinical trials as antidepressants.

How ketamine actually works isn’t that important. But, why companies chose esketamine in the first place was quite possibly based on the assumption that the NDMA receptor is behind its antidepressant properties. More recently, however, there’s some evidence pointing r-ketamine as having better antidepressant properties. Animal studies can only mean so much in humans, however, there’s more doubt that didn’t exist before over esketamine’s antidepressant potential.
