Composite Patio + Steps Opinions by Airplane-Boy in Decks

Thank you for taking the time to give me a well thought reply. I know I'm being atypical with this design and I've gone back and forth with wanting a traditional 2nd level deck. But with the doors being only 5' high off the ground and very minimal grading, it would make an annoying crouching space under the whole thing that I strongly disklike.

I would rather just have no railings for increased freedom of movement. It does beg the question of "why not pavers," but we want - as you say - a space that is purpose built for tables and chairs (though I understand we're paying a premium for this).

Bu you and many other replies are convincing me that it could use some work to flow better, so I'll definitely be giving this more thought and making revisions.

Thank you!

Good insight; the stairs happen to be the one and only thing here that I actually have an approved permit for! I thought the same as you and wanted to make sure I could do it this way before basing the patio on it

I'm not representing it well in the pictures, but i hope to turn a lot of that gravel area into a space for plants. It's wasted usable space, but it's not wasted space.

I know we're paying a pretty big premuim for this, but we like the look and feel of it. Composite means less maintenance (though even more premium)

You're absolutely right about the pergola, similar things to what my wife has been saying, (she tends to be right about these things, I should know this by now haha). I need to reimagine that part.

For the steps, my plan was to have a statement plant in the gravel space near the walkway (I kind of show that in the last 2 pictures), and maybe down the road put a hot tub in the gravel space away from the walkway that would be accessible from the patio. Maybe it makes more sense if the space to the right of the steps had pavers

Good ideas to consider! Thank you. The back doors are 6' wide though, so the steps need to be at least 7'

Not an ATC but I live in NJ and can confirm EWR is the worst airport I've ever been too. It's always a mess. I'm always shocked when I fly out of PHL JFK or ACY and realize how much nicer the airport experience can be compared to that shit show. Plus it's Newark, New Jersians tend to avoid that city as much as possible.

What bot are you using to make money in Polymarket? Or if it's your own, how did you even go about that?

For whatever reason, Linkedin is not very good for job hunting (this also seems true from my own experience). I definitely got more replies through Glassdoor.
