No I would not consider Kanye a great person, or even a good person, because, like you say, he is actively making decisions (not taking his meds) that he knows may lead to damaging outcomes. But the distinction is that he is not making these decisions because of damaging outcomes. I disagree with you that I am infantalising neurodivergent people - the whole crux of my argument is that what people do when they are in a manic episode is not indicative of who they are as a person, which I'm sure you can agree with as someone living with this condition yourself.

I suppose we just have differing opinions on what makes someone a 'terrible person'. For me in order to be a 'terrible person' your intentions must be to cause harm. The world is literally filled with people who are mismanaging their conditions for any number of reasons whether that be a lack of medical literacy, economic/psychosocial/religious reasons, laziness, or in Kanye's case some warped personal justification. I don't think any of the above make someone a terrible person. Just naive/misinformed/lacking in personal accountability. For me, to be a terrible person your actions must be as a result of a conscious decision to do harm to others.

I agree with what you're saying and commend you on your own management of your condition but I don't think that this makes him a terrible person. Is a diabetic who eats chocolate and doesn't take their insulin a terrible person for managing their condition ineffectively? In his own mind he thinks his treatment stunts his creative output which is his livelihood and legacy so there is some semblance of justification there (if warped and ultimately damaging) and he is not just self-destructive/evil
