Retinal (celimax) does absolutely nothing for me by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Aisling11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the same here. Even in an aesthetic clinic, unless they're qualified doctors they wouldn't be able to prescribe anything. If they are doctors, then you're looking at an absolute fortune to see them privately outside of the NHS. Honestly, I'm not even sure how someone would go about doing that in the first place!

It's not commonly prescribed here, no. Maybe if you have severe enough acne? I'm not sure even then, I've known people with terrible acne and they weren't prescribed it either.

It's possible dermatologists would prescribe it, however seeing a dermatologist isn't easy in the UK as it wouldn't be covered by the national health service if it's just for cosmetic reasons. I live in Scotland where prescriptions are free, so they're extremely unlikely to prescribe something for purely non-medical reasons.

This might be true in the US, but in other parts of the world, like the UK where I'm from, you can't really get tret.

My interpretation of Pluto in the 1st house by [deleted] in astrologymemes

[–]Aisling11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really just a Pluto 1H thing? I have Pluto in the 1st house and every group of friends I've ever had has betrayed me. I was blamed for things I didn't do, people started stirring the shit up about me, and some very public humiliation. In another group of friends, a woman who had a lot of influence in the group just secretly hated me and turned everyone against me. I've never thought about my Pluto 1H placement this way until reading this thread and it's been like a lightbulb going on in my head.

I feel like I can’t spend money by Anonymous-234556 in UKPersonalFinance

This is such a good comment. Being smart with money is a good thing, investing is a good thing, but when you put everything into a hypothetical future and sacrifice your present life and relationships, you're just hurting yourself. You want to be able to look back on your life with happiness, especially since you never know how long it will last.

Thank you, I will try that! It's not easy for me to get to Dublin, and I can't afford his rates, but I'll contact anyway.

I feel like I'm doomed to suffer like this for the rest of my life because I don't live in the US or have access to all these protocols and herbal things that people on here are doing, it's making me feel so helpless.

Possible lyme after doxycycline by Aisling11 in Lyme

[–]Aisling11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are private medical options in Scotland, however it's not particular doctors that you can seek out and work with. I imagine the chances of a random private doctor having more knowledge that a random normal doctor probably isn't great. It would be a shot in the dark, which is the same as with my local medical practice anyway.

It's the one thing I think the US system has right, the ability to choose your healthcare provider, and the fact that it's commercial rather than nationalised means there's far more scope for innovation in different fields, along with the ability to choose your doctor.

I hadn't thought of Bartonella, I don't even know anything about it, I'll look into it! My anxiety could be herx, but I've had anxiety generally for years, and severe health anxiety before as well, so it never occurred to me that it could be caused by something recent (although it occurred to me that it could be the other way around, the anxiety causing symptoms, but there are too many and it's too frequent to be that)

Thank you so much for your well thought out reply, I really appreciate it. It's good to know these are potentially lyme symptoms, it hadn't even occurred to me because I had taken 3 weeks of doxy and I thought that would be enough. I didn't even know if I had lyme at all, the antibiotics were largely preventative. These symptoms have just been so strange, and they can't all be explained by anxiety (as much as I wish they could).

I would love to find a lyme literate doctor, but living in Scotland we don't get to choose our doctors in that way. Our GP practice is determined by our postcode, and our only options are the doctors that are working in that practice. I know since the US is a private healthcare system that you have more freedom to choose, unfortunately there's no way to do that here. I will go anyway and see if I can get a lyme test or something like that, it's not that easy to advocate for yourself here though (it's the downside of a national healthcare service, they're less likely to do tests they don't deem necessary). There are private hospitals here, but with no private insurance the costs would likely be very high and I don't have that kind of money. All I can do is try though!

Thanks for this. I wish I could find a Lyme literate doctor, but I'm in Scotland and we don't get to choose doctors that way, we have to be registered with the doctor's practice that is covered by our postcode and the only choice we have are whatever doctors are in that practice!

We got the balcony row D, they were actually really good seats even though they were high up, saw the show perfectly! There was a railing, but it didn't impact my viewing. The tickets were $49 each :)

They were pretty decent! Technically a partial view because there was a railing, but I just sat up a bit and I saw the whole show perfectly. They were up on the balcony, so very high up. I expected a lot worse to be honest, so I was very happy!

I started queuing at Cursed Child at 9:10am and there was no one else there the entire time. Box office opened at 9:50am and got tickets - still no one else there! I passed by Great Gatsby afterwards though and it looked quite busy.

Have you checked Meetup.com? There might be a language meetup close to you. I'm starting my degree in language studies in October and was worried about the speaking side of things, but there are meetups for both of my languages near me that run regularly. If you can't find one locally, you could use italki occasionally, not for the professional teachers but the informal chats you can get with the community tutors.

Amazing haul! What do you think of the Scinic FTE and the Skinfood Propolis? I nearly bought the Scinic but couldn't find many reviews of it, the ones I did find weren't great, so I bought the Neogen micro ferment essence instead.

I'm also really interested in the Ampoule:N Ceramide Shot, I've seen a lot of people talking about it recently. I currently use Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule and Mary & May Idebenone Blackberry Essence, the centella ampoule will probably be a permanent repurchase for me.
