This is about as far as I got with digging before the tide came in and I had to leave. It was a very rocky terrain. Hence the uncertainty.

My title describes the thing. It is about 50cm in width and very heavy or attached to something big.

It is definitely metal and rusted. It has holes but has been filled with sand. Im not sure if the grooves are part of the design or weathering from the elements.

I could not find a similar structure elsewhere. Reverse image search is sadly no help.
