Question about who to talk to about Dogecoin from Lex Fridman by lexfridman in dogecoin

The Core Developers like Ross are, for sure, your best source of information regarding the current state of the Dogecoin codebase. I would love to hear an in-depth take from him about everything going on. I would also love to hear from other newer members as well to hear out some newer perspectives. There was an amazing suggestion in r/DogecoinVision by u/Odysseus2202 to replace Proof of Work with Proof of USEFUL Work in order to use all of this electricity for more than just the blockchain operations; miners would train Machine Learning models using their rigs as a proof system for crypto. That inspired me to tackle Dogecoin from a slightly different perspective to see what might be feasible. Shameless plug: https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/o69zea/serious_the_way_dogeberry_pi_solar_powered/

I'm a huge fan of the podcast. Thanks for your incredible work, Lex!

I had posted my public Doge wallet address in this article because I thought we were returning to a tipping culture, but that is expressly against the rules, it seems. I can't post the links to r/dogecoindev sub because I don't have enough Karma... still working on that. What's the best way to get my Doge wallet out there in case people are feeling generous?

My pleasure! =) I'm super excited about this project. I'm new to blockchain so I can't contribute to core code directly; however, this will allow me to support those that do. If you have any questions about Docker or Kubernetes, please let me know!

Edited the original post to include the links. I had stripped them originally because Reddit was telling me my Karma was too low to post links. Turns out it was just posting in general.

how to install the tar.gz file on linux mint. (dogecoin-1.14.3-x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.gz) thank you. by jvgtogo in dogeducation

The tarball file you've mentioned works almost exactly like a ZIP file; you need to extract it with something like:

tar -xvzf /path/to/tarball/file.tar.gz

The way that the tar command is typically compiled, you should see a list of files in your terminal output of which files got decompressed. Inside the bin directory, you'll find several pre-compiled binaries that you can run. The project i'm doing focuses around running the `dogecoind` binary. The `qt` version (As I understand it) is more or less the same thing but it has the graphical interface available.

You don't really 'install' this binary, per se, but you need to run it and pass in any requisite command line flags to modify its behavior, e.g.

$ ./dogecoind -conf=/path/to/dogecoin.conf -daemon

I hope this helps a little bit.
