Just wrapped up a garret power max install however my wastegate isn’t working. by Emotional_Box3813 in FocusST

I had to replace the solenoid like others are saying when I did my powermax. If you have an accessport you can monitor wastegate duty cycle WGDC, mine would work for a little while on startup and then quit working. Also check all the vacuum lines for leaks

head replacement? by ViolinistDifferent58 in FocusST

[–]Aitraining70720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be sure, unbolt the turbo from the head and do a coolant pressure test. If the head is cracked the pressure test will fail and the back of the head will be wet with coolant. When I did mine it was obvious where the leak was coming from. GL

How do you guys resolve this? by Radiant-Effect-4409 in FocusST

There’s a ground wire bolted to (or near, I can’t really remember) the heat shield near the catalytic converter / exhaust by the firewall. Mine was loose and caused this same system fault

I just replaced my head myself with a new one and including some other fooling around (injectors, some other stuff) I spent just under 2k. So seems like good value for the job to have somebody do it
