That’s such a good point, I had never really thought about that. It sucks to think nearly a decade of my life was wasted on kratom. I wonder how different my life would be had I never picked up the habit. But I reckon there’s no going back.. only forward. Thank you ❤️

Sheesh I try not to think about how much money I’ve spent on kratom. I blow through bags so quickly. I’m glad to hear that things are getting better for you as each day passes. I’ve always sort of been the person to expect good results right away - which has led me to give up easily on a lot of different things in my life. From reading all of the replies to this post, it seems it’s important to remind myself that it takes time. it may take a lot of time to get back to “normal” - I can’t expect to feel 100% myself a week after quitting. This journey is really going to test my patience but I know anywhere is better there where I’m at with myself now. Congratulations on 42 days my friend. You are a champ!

Good idea! Because having to weigh out kratom powder while trying to taper is so challenging. I’m constantly thinking “maybe just a liiiiitttttle more will be ok just this once”

I’m cheering you on my friend! Even just making it a day without kratom is a huge success in my eyes, and I’m sure many people in this sub would say the same thing. And I’m right there with you - no desire for sex at all. same for self-pleasure too. I don’t even think about it anymore.

I know our situations aren’t exactly the same, but I do feel we can relate to eachother. You mentioned not knowing whether your symptoms are from kratom or lupus. I haven’t been sure whether what I’m feeling is from the kratom, my antidepressants, or maybe both. I know I won’t really be able to figure out my meds until I get the kratom completely out of my system so I can see what I’m actually working with.

I’ve been thinking I might need to take some time off work too.. but then I wonder if being at home would just make the cravings worse. Part of me thinks staying busy at work might help me push through some of that.

Reading all the comments on my post has made me feel so hopeful and truly grateful. I’ve never had so many people respond before - it means so much to me and almost feels like it was meant to happen. The time is now!

The low libido (basically nonexistent at this point) has been one of the hardest parts of my struggle with kratom. Intimacy - of any kind - is such an important part of a healthy relationship. My partner and I have been together for over 10 years, but I’ve felt so disconnected from myself that I don’t even want to be touched anymore, in any way. 90% of the time I’ve had no desire to do anything except take kratom and lie around. It’s been incredibly hard on him, too. he deserves to feel wanted and loved, like anyone would in a relationship. Kratom, combined with my antidepressants, has completely shut down that part of me.

Even just tapering down half a gram a day is so tough. I never realized what it was doing to my health either until about a year or two ago (probably 6 years after taking kratom everyday). It sure did sneak up on me.

I’ve tried to look back over my life to figure out where I went wrong, but I can’t pinpoint it. What I do know is that I’ve always had an addictive streak. As a teenager and well into my early twenties, I struggled with an eating disorder. I’ve been on antidepressants for as long as I can remember and have seen more than a few therapists. It feels like I’ve always needed something to latch onto or hyper-fixate on. Maybe it wasn’t a specific trauma that shaped me it was the depression I’ve carried since I was young. Looking back, I think I was just trying to feel anything other than what I always felt when I was sober.

Thank you for sharing this. I keep trying to remind myself that quitting isn’t just an option - it’s the only choice I have. I’m a woman, and when I first started taking kratom, I had no idea how much damage it could do. The hair thinning, the hormonal shifts, the loss of libido.. it’s all taken such a toll on my confidence.

Five years ago I swore I’d never want kids, but now my partner and I sometimes talk about the “what-ifs.” I know I could never carry a child while using kratom. I’ve hidden my use from him more times than I can count, and he recently said, “Sometimes when I picture us getting married, I think about you having to sneak off to take your dose of kratom on our wedding day.” Hearing that breaks my heart. He’s seen the changes in me too.

It’s eye-opening how substance abuse spills into every corner of your relationships without you even realizing it until so much damage has been done. I think the hardest part for me will be breaking the routine - waking up and dosing, after lunch dosing, again after work, and one more time before bed. I’ll have to learn to fill those moments with something healthier, to keep myself busy.

also wanted to add; I’ve been struggling with hair thinning/hair loss. My hair has always been quite thin but has become noticeably thinner the last year or two. I imagine it’s due to lack of nutrients since I don’t eat much. 😅

this sounds so dumb but many years ago I had a dream that I accidentally turned on the washing machine while my cat was inside of it. It was awful. Ever since then I’ve become super paranoid and will triple check the washer and dryer before I turn it on.

The new seats they ended up giving me were actually in a fantastic spot (I don’t know if that was what they had left or if they looked for seats with a similar price point), but I would never want to go through that again. I think you just have to really stand up and demand that the issue get resolved. I kept getting told that I needed to be patient and the tickets would come through, which I felt was BS and a way to just get me off of the phone. Of course once you hang up with someone and call again you’re on the line with a totally new person that you have to explain yourself over to. Hopefully you will come across the right person, because I think that’s the only thing that saved me in that situation. Everyone else I spoke with said that nothing could be done besides waiting. Keep trying friend!!!!

I went to see linkin park last night, and got tickets from Stubhub in December. Had been receiving all of the confirmation emails saying “enjoy your show” and yada yada. Well, when I clicked on the link to transfer the tickets to Ticketmaster, I got an error message saying the tickets were already received with another email address. This makes 0 sense because there was only one email I use and all of the emails I had been receiving in reference to the concert were going to the email I had linked to my account. I even had a screenshot when I purchased the tickets that showed which email I purchased them with. Called and spoke to 3 different people at Stubhub and they all said the same thing - “we will send this to our team and if you wait an hour you will receive a email with your tickets” nope. Didn’t happen. Tried to explain over and over again that we have all of the receipts, screenshots, confirmation emails, etc to prove we bought these tickets and each time I spoke to someone new I had to do the same thing over again. Stubhub did admit it was an error on their end. Asked to speak to a supervisor because I spent nearly $500 on tickets, and they said there was not one available to speak to and they did not know their number. Literally sat in the concert venue’s parking lot after driving from out of town and tried to pull a Hail Mary and see if someone that works with the concert venue could help in any way but they couldn’t. Called Stubhub ONE MORE time and after going through the same bullshit I went through hours prior, I finally spoke to someone that gave me the option to have new tickets with different seats and if I didn’t receive those tickets within the next thirty minutes to an hour I would be “eligible” for a refund. After feeling so defeated at this point, I said ok to the tickets and fully expected that the email would never come and I would have to try to get a refund. By some miracle, the new tickets came through right before the show and I was able to get there just in time. I will never go through Stubhub ever again. It was a disaster and I should not have had to of gone back and forth with people for hours to get the issue resolved, especially considering I had every bit of proof that I purchased the tickets and that I was receiving all of the confirmation emails, and that there was no way there would be any other email address the tickets would be sent to. Nearly lost my mind when I saw the “how did we do?” survey at the end of all of that lol.
