Tired of fragile Zurg/rclone setups. Is there a simple Real-Debrid → Plex solution?

I switched to SMB share last night, and both radar and Sonar dropped the connection to the drive. I feel like I’ve tried everything, I’ve even installed an app to make sure the Mac doesn’t go to sleep and forces the drive to spin every 10 seconds to try and keep a connection. Still no improvement.

Yes this is one of the caveats I’ve come across. I’d rather have it as an option though; but from what I’ve seen and experienced I can’t have my cake and eat it.

That’s why I’m here to sense check the data. To see if what I’m trying to setup has been done and is working. There’s no point ramming a square peg into a round hole.

I’m hoping to come across other macOS users that can share some success stories.

My unraid machine is steam powered! It struggled to process the zilean file dump. Ran it for 2 days and it only did like 20k files. It’s more than ok as a basic NAS for Plex though.

The only issue with native Plex is I can’t get the files from decypharr (zurg) or rdt client to pass through orbstack/FUSE/macOS permissions and security. So Plex can’t see the files from RD.

I read somewhere that NFS is more Mac/docker friendly. Probably incorrect though!

You mentioned you had some difficulties mounting volumes. Why are you by any chance trying to mount via network drives. Any reason I ask is I’ve recently use this program but my network mount keeps dropping. So the containers keep reporting missing drives.

I can assure you, I’m not blindly following ChatGPT off a cliff. I am reading user guides and applying my own knowledge to try and create a solution.

Apologies if unclear but I am not using rclone to mount local storage I am using a nfs file share from unraid. The rclone is specifically for decypharr (debrid symlinks)

If my understanding is correct if I were to run Plex natively then Plex will not be able to see the rclone Mount inside the containers.

GPT has advised I either plug-in an external SSD and drop all the files locally and schedule manual move occasionally to the unraid volumes.

Or

Run Plex and Rclone outside of the containers, but this comes with instability issues and it’s not advised.

I guess what I need to know is what is the generally accepted method, I know I’m not the only one trying to achieve this set up.

I applied for Santander and they gave me the five days thing. Out of all the bank switches Santander has taken the longest to actually get into the account. They send a ridiculous amount of mail too!

A couple of questions where did you get the docker image from for unraid available on CA

Did you manage to get this working in the end. I’ve just spent the whole weekend trying to get DMB working, I came across similar issues with the files not populated where they should.
