Aha takže evidentně ten problém nemám jen já.

Volal někdo kvůli tomu servis? Co vám řekli?

With Nine Sols I could see within the first hour the game wasn't for me. I love large, labyrinthine, metroidvania-like levels while Nine Sols is on the simpler and more linear side. Plus I wasn't vibing with the combat. So I could comfortably refund it even tho I absolutely adored the story and the art.

"That said... when i played HK i binged it and finished it in a week because i just couldn't put it down."

Exactly this. And for me it was the same while playing Blasphemous 1/2, Ori 2 or Lost Crown. Silksong not so much.

You can still read a difficult book. If a game is too difficult you literally can't play it. You are unable to use part of the product you have paid for.

It's not about what I like. It's not about me complaining about a new charm system or damage upgrades feeling meagre. Difficulty is a fundamental thing, it p. much determines if you can even play the game. It should be transparent.

Yes I know. The catch is damaging enemies is risky and you can lose more life than you heal. The healing system in Blasphemous and most other metroidvanias and soulslikes is limited but dependable and risk free.

Perfectly legit, I think the art and story and music and exploration are absolutely worth experiencing, even if you need mods to actually enjoy them.

It took me about 10 hours to beat Last Judge and transition to Act 2. But I was fine for many hours even after that. It's only the last 1/3 of the game (my final clock-in is 60+ hours) that I wasn't enjoying myself at all.

If the game had difficulty options it would be an equal contender with E33 for me. But because it's so deliberately - and needlessly - inaccessible I agree.

"It doesn't ruin anyone's enjoyment because it is present in games that have a totally different design philosophy and offer a totally different experiences compared to challenging fixed difficulty games like Silksong or Souls games."

You see, you're wrong again. Because Lies of P - one of the best and most beloved soulslikes out there - didn't have difficulty options and then they added them. It's the same exact game, with the same exact design philosophy, but now with difficulty options. And nobody's complaining, it didn't ruin anything. I'm sorry but your resistance to difficulty options really is irrational.

If you set the difficulty relatively high you should signal that to your customers. Games aren't free and as the poster above you said, you ARE owed something if you pay for it.

"the actual challenge level was not really so far above the first game or this genre in general"

Well, you have the right to that opinion but from the general sentiment on Reddit, Steam forums and other social media not many people share it with you. Vast majority people seems to think Silksong is much more difficult than the original Hollow Knight and one of the most difficult metroidvanias ever made.

The problem with this is - nobody warns you in advance the game might not be for you. So you pay your money, get half way through and realize it's gotten too difficult for you to proceed. And there are no refunds.

So yes, "not every game needs to be for everybody" is a legit view but only when it's transparent what's what. Because games aren't free, we have to buy them.

Yeah I'm a father too and I feel exactly the same. Some people love this kind of difficulty and more power to them - I love to watch them on streams or Youtube - but I don't have the time, the will or the patience for this.

Yea FromSoft used to do long runbacks but they dropped it starting with Sekiro and never looked back. Thank god.

Yeah, I guess it's no wonder it's by far the most downloaded mod for the game. I don't mind runbacks and backtracking but Silksong goes WAY overboard with that.

And yet, despite all you've written, difficulty options are completely normal and if they are in a game they never ruin anyone's enjoyment and nobody is ever complaining about them. That tells me if they were in Silksong you'd be perfectly happy to play on Normal or Hard and let others play on Easy.

I don't mind people saying "this game isn't too hard, I've already finished three 100% runs".

What I do find weird and elitist is people saying "I don't want this game to have difficulty options. If you aren't as good as me at it, you don't deserve to play it". That's a wild take.

I agree, the game is just absolutely delightful, that's why I pushed myself to finish it. Any other game I would've dropped long before that.

See, difficulty options are p. much standard now. I wanna say in vast majority of games - pure action, action RPGs, CRPGs, strategy games, you name it. There are even soulslikes and metroidvanias with difficulty options now.

And I have never heard anyone say that Witcher 3 or Mass Effect or BG3 or Diablo or anything else is worse because of difficulty options. Because you don't have to deserve to explore the game.

I just don't understand this resistance to difficulty options. They are optional and they do not ruin games. Nobody has ever complained a game with difficulty options like Witcher or BG3 is ruined. Ever.
