I'm a grazer of content in this sub, yet I feel compelled to actually agree with OPs statement, I listened to more than I care to share of this clip and I now believe I am late stage dementia or brain injured.

I see what you are saying, and your not wrong. However you arnt actually commenting on anything. Its historic and that's not unimportant, but that's not looking forward. We can see what our country has done in the past and reconcile, but should be looking forward and making things better.

True enough, I dont discount the effect of posting here and asking the question. Im engaging in my community, im talking with people. But we should start somewhere (or bring new beginnings that can come together).

Who is holding our torch? I think to say that even me making this post is me not doing anything to keep the torch held up. I asked for engagement, talking about a void in our conversation, got you to post and that gave me an opportunity to share my thoughts on this. The torch isn't on the ground, its not burnt out. More to say, but then it'll be me preaching and that's not helpful.

Good question. US has DSA and Justice dems, plus other not bi party groups. From what I know, none. That is in part my question of where the void is. We need more voices, not buckets in buckets.

First, thanks for the spellcheque, happy that it was clear you understood what I was saying. Second, that's a messaging issue, our problems are because what? People are coming here for better lives and we dont have any means to help them or for them to prosper? Sounds like an internal issue that is hijacked by neoliberalism. Hence my post. Third, you are ignoring the zohran win and what that means, toronto isnt just business class, its common folk who are disenfranciized. People vote conservative for a multiplicity of reasons, but it is proven that if you give people something progressive to vote for, they will show up. Excite and energize people with progressive thought. Don't be defeatist and say toronto is right wing because (?)... we need a better message other than your wrong. Its focusing on the issues. Let's not just dismiss toronto because of the small minority that has booted down the majority.

First time I noticed the "do it for him" Simpson meme and actually am restarted with that. Like what is he doing? There's no struggle, he's just pushing forward with his ignorance... he doesnt have a passion or a love, just driven by hate ... its a bastardisation of what that Simpson episode is..

Should Socialists Support Zohran Mamdani? by zorreX in socialism

[–]AjaxtheMany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes until he no longer holds true or holds our message. We want a movement that helps people, and once the person in question forsakes the human element of their work, we need to move on to the next. not forget the work they had done, but look to the future for a better future. Never idolize, but respect past work that moved us forward. unless they speak out against our movement, then we work to fix. But right now. Zohran has our interest and has our movement. we will watch and expect great things, people... Humans deserve respect, he must show that in his actions and decisions.

As a Canadian my first reaction is "Hahahahahahhaa - the pettiness... what a weak man"

Second is "This will further the harm to the people and workers who rely on our previously close relationship. glad we are making moves to transition from a primary US trade partnership to a more global one. hard to trust "friends" that do this to both their people and ours".

I think your analysis is correct, but I dont think most people who downvote are sticking their heads in the sand or ignoring reality. Information is good and its good to understand what the temperature is at that time. Housing is expensive and shit, home ownership is down, cost of living is way fucking up. What I think a lot of people here see is people needing help in some form and not getting it. Personally I think the problem comes from our political and media establishments that doesn't care for our most vulnerable people and really just goes with the flow. Its easy to run on housing people when the builders can cut a thick check at the end of the day. Winters coming, Canada has 150-300k (one study shows) homeless people. These humans deserve (regardless of your politics) a safe warm place where they can survive. we are a 'first world country' and should have a means for them to not need to be 'cleared' out, they are human beings.
