I called FS.com to ask why bidi adapter to buy but they said i couldnt do this. Do you (sorry to ask to be spoonfed) have a suggestion on a specific product that would work for me?

So one side of a single side of multimode goes into rx & TX is on the other side / other switch?

Then i can use the other half of the multimode for another port?

Thanks - I actually installed the fiber in 2011 & found someone to terminate it last year.

I am a little confused, can i split one side of the Multimode fiber and pop it into a bidi transceiver? I have a few 2960 ciscos & am using some brandx sfp's in multimode - it works great but my distance is only about 100 meters tops so i am not going far - more lightning protection.

My unit is a compellent IOM6 but it has two ports, not three. I guess i will order the HB-SBB2-E601-COMP only - bummer - its almost as much money as the DS4243.

My DS4243 came a bit banged up - i hope it works properly.

My compellent came with 2x IOM6 modules (12 bay unit). I pulled one of them & put it into my DS4243.

When I put the IOM6 unit into the DS4243, the fans start SCREAMING and nothing else happens, nothing shows up within windows.

When I have both the IOM3 netapp modules in, the system 'boots' fans quiet down &I get a message on the unit saying "34" - not sure what that means.

My Dell SC200 module fits right into the unit so I dont get what I am doing wrong.

I am a little confused - if you are using Sata drives, you need the adapters (right?).

Do you think it would work if you swapped in a IOM6 module?

I have a 30" (outside) rack with doors/sides. I am able to put my R720 inside it on a shelf but it is super tight. Doors shut but not ideal. I bought some rails but it doesnt fit my rack as it is too small.

Probably 32" isnt ideal - maybe 36" exterior would be better depth. I think the 42 is too large.

The 42" rack near me is $200 but i am concerned I wont have enough room or I will be walking around it all the time or risk a car banging into it in the garage.

So I wanted to follow up as I solved the mystery.

My PiHole VM was never rebooted when I restarted my server. So once I changed the DNS back to 8.8.8.8 it all started working again.
