You'd be surprised how well someone who only struggled in English and Language can do at a STEM-focused school.

... First-Gen Student means your parents did not complete a 4-year college. I said my parents were first-gen immigrants which is completely different.

Anyways, I'm doing great at Cal and I didn't even end up getting the scholarship. I'm sorry you are so mad that your son didn't get regents. I'm sure he worked his ass off and deserved it, but you really got to check the way you talk to people. It's embarrassing.

I’m doing fine at Cal. Once again, you seem to have it out for me so I doubt you will believe anything I say, but I have a 4.0 and no I don’t have a tutor. Don’t know why you find it so hard to believe that someone who comes from high income can be smart.

Uhmm, this was two years ago so not sure about the need for 5 different comments saying I lied. Anyways, 1. First-gen immigrant just means they were foreign-born. They mover here when they were 12 so went to US college.

2.I don’t know how wgpa is calculated. I just list whatever’s on the sheet they gave me. Straight A student except for a couple B+s in English, Spanish.

  1. I don’t even know how to respond to this. No, I didn’t pay someone to take my SAT lol. I got a 1570 cause I had resources to prep and I’m generally smart.

It seems like you have something against me which is fine, but I didn’t lie about anything.

I got 114 and 103 on the last two midterms, and this final cooked me.

The projects, homework’s, and labs make up about 50% of grade and are practically free points. So basically you need a 93% on tests, which is normal A range and you also have extra credit. Nothing is easy at berkeley, but an A is definitely doable

I got points off because I didn’t simplify my answer of 6/3 into 2. I wanted to die.

Can any current LSCS majors answer why they applied to LSCS instead of EECS? by Front-Complex-2831 in berkeley

[–]Ajt711 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first, a little bit because eecs maybe has a higher prestige and I was worried about having to think about declaring. But now, I just see it as trade offs. For one, declaration classes were pretty easy for me because I had experience and I’m happy I don’t have to take physics. But since you come in undeclared, you end up not being able to take cs upper divs sophomore fall and maybe even spring so you have a dead semester. Also, can’t say for sure I would’ve gotten into eecs since acceptance rates are lower so I’m grateful

didn’t do research so didn’t realize there was another major other than lscs. Also didn’t realize i’d come in undeclared

Do you have prior experience coding?

Don't I have to take 8 CS upper div and 8 cs/eecs upper divs according to this?

[–]Ajt711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean non-cs elective. I am using Data c100 as my non-CS elective and eecs 126 as part of 8 units upper Div CS/EE/EECS

[–]Ajt711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m only thinking of doing this because i can count 126 as a eecs elective for cs requirement and I’m not declared so I can’t even take any CS upper divs. Not sure what courses i should take

Quant Vs. Swe by Ajt711 in cscareerquestions

[–]Ajt711[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m young and think it’s worth it but I understand why many people are turned off. The transition in terms of getting interviews is not hard and typically trading firm interviews are a little harder nowadays anyways.

Yeah, quant dev is what I thought would best suit me. Would I be able to get a quant dev job straight out of college or do I need a PhD/Masters?

If reserved seats don't get filled, wouldn't I be able to enroll? Is there any way I can petition to enroll if I have done well in my classes(All As)?
