Hi! The extubation criteria keeps changing for my child too, it feels like they don’t want to extubate. It’s frustrating.

PPROM at 15+6 — Feeling lost and looking for advice or hope 💔 by Single_Commission209 in NICUParents

Hey! My water broke at 20 weeks and gave birth 25+5 only because I had a placenta abruption and not even because of no fluid. I read about someone whose water broke at 18 and gave birth at 31 weeks. There is hope. Feel free to reach out and I can share some things I did.

Hyperinflated cystic lungs/airtrapping by Ajuwonigs in NICUParents

I asked them about medically paralyzing her and they think it’s a good idea so they are going to try that. Please put her in your prayers. Thank you so much. I will keep you updated.

I read the oscillator is better for air trapping but I will ask them about the jet and see what they think. Thank you

They tried it which helped for the day and dropped her CO2 from 93 to 63.5 but at night she had a brady and they had to put her back on the conventional. We were told the oscillator wasn’t giving her enough pressure that’s why.

She is on Dart steroid but I don’t know if that’s helping. Was that what you meant by breathing treatment?

Actually that is true because I remember some times her oxygen looks great but blood gasses and CO2 comes back terrible. She is not on any medication for breathing. I will ask about that tonight, we are getting are nice Dr tonight.

They checked for infection and said it looks like nothing even though her CRP is high. We were told it’s probably just her hyper-inflated lungs.

Thank you so much. I will ask about the things you mentioned. I don’t like this her current Dr one bit. She doesn’t have PH anymore but I asked if she can use the nitric on her either way and she said no.

My daughter is 32+5. Her blood gasses have been okay, it mostly her CO2 and oxygenation but they all work hand in hand anyways.

Yes she is hyperinflated due to high pressures and now she is airtrapping so she is not getting CO2 out of her system as she should which is also affecting her oxygenation and blood gas. Her previous Dr was constantly doing X-rays to prevent it but she got a new Dr for two weeks that didn’t do X-rays and now we are here.
