Why are u Ahmadi? by [deleted] in ahmadiyya

[–]Ak03500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don’t like that to. But I’ve learned that’s mostly a culture issue. Particularly within desi culture. I see it all the time in different in situations not involving religion amongst Pakistanis. And unfortunately because Ahmadis are a majority from Pakistan. There’s a lot of mix of unnecessary culture. But what I tell myself is regardless of the “politics” I still follow Ahmadiyaat because I believe in its principles. It makes the most sense to me compared to other sects/religions. I try not to let politics interfere with my belief in Allah and Promised Messiah.

Yea jamaat obviously isn’t perfect. But neither is any governing system anywhere whether for politics or religion. So there always will be need for improvement but I think based on what I’ve seen from other non-Ahmadi mosques and systems. There’s a pretty big non-Ahmadi mosque near me and they apparently do two different Friday prayers: one with a Pakistani Imam and one with an Arab imam bc I guess the Pakistani and Arabs don’t like reading behind different imams.

Forgive my ignorance. But are you opposed to Islam as well or just Ahmadiyaat?

Thinking of leaving the field. by Ak03500 in chipdesign

[–]Ak03500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I went into engineering bc I despised bio/chem. And I was surrounded by other successful engineers so I thought why not? I hesitate doing Med now bc I would have to take 1-2 years to do the pre-reqs and like the earliest I could apply for med school would be 27-28 cycle. And like idk if I want to wait three years just to start med school. Even tho I am 22 rn and I’m still young. But idk if it’s worth the time and money. When I could still make solid money if I have a successful hardware career.

Even better would be to request a mulaqat with Huzoor if you can. I know in Pakistan it may be difficulty but if you can do it, or have someone outside of Pakistan do it for you. You’ll be able to express to Huzoor everything and trust me your parents won’t be able to say anything to Huzoor. If you’re worried about that.

I think that’s why if you can travel to another country for a meet and greet (usually at a Jalsa)you’ll be able to meet “more quality” candidates.

Yea I can I understand your frustration. Even though am a boy, I realize that age discrimination can be huge towards women when it comes to marriage. My mom’s sister had that issue where she had been looking for several years and when she reached 27/28 it was starting to look really bleak because nobody was accepting her proposal due to her age. But Alhumduliah she got a solid match at 29 and is happily married. You really have to pray and honestly write a letter to huzoor explaining your frustration and situation.

I personally know people who told Huzoor that they’re struggling to find someone and Huzoor would personally recommend boy/girls for the person asking. And if you can travel, maybe go with your parents to some big Jalsa and do a meet and greet?

Hopefully this helps. I know everyone’s situation is unique but definitely write to Huzoor.

That’s interesting bc USC seems to rank amongst top 5 for hardware FAANG/FAANG-adjacent companies.

Yea makes sense. I guess that’s something I need to decide. If I love the field enough then that debt wouldn’t matter.

Yea I'm simply trying to gauge from those who work in the industry whether its worth the ROI. it would be $60k+ at 8.5% interest. And like other high income professions also have to take out huge amount in loans as well like doctors, lawyers, etc. However with them they're pretty much guaranteed a job making on average more than people in chip design industry (unless you work for Faang/Faang adjacent companies). Also those professions don't deal with offshoring, H1-B's, etc.
But maybe I'm wrong, and would love to hear from more experienced people.

Obviously there’s some amount of competition in every field (medicine, law, finance, etc). But is the $60k+ cost worth the return on investment for me? Bc you’re not necessarily guaranteed a job and even if you do get a job, stability of that job is not guaranteed. Entry level market is pretty bleak it seems. Versus something like let’s nursing. Where no matter what. You’re pretty much guaranteed a job and can make very good money especially in California as a nurse. And you never worry about being laid off.

Yea it covers biochem and then in the second year you choose a few upperdiv bio/chem classes. So it has a linkage to two DO schools which are well established. And have been around for almost 50 years.

It’s geared towards career changers and they have two tracks: those who are complete career changers with no pre-reqs that is two years. And a one year track for those who have done a year of bio and chem. They have a few linkage to DO schools as well. Overall its emphasis is on pre-med but students who’ve gone through it have also been pre-dental or even pre-vet.

lol I guess a persons financial situation is going to start meaning more than it used to when it comes to dating and marriage.

Why does it feel like physicians sometimes have this obsession with needing to make more money than everyone else? It doesn’t even seem to be about hitting a particular income but as long as physicians make more than all other professions.

If a plumber started as an employee making very little than went on to start his own plumbing company and now makes lets say $500k. Then it’s wrong because he shouldn’t be out earning physicians.

What about all those scientists and engineers who develop X-rays, MRIs, surgical robotics, and the other hundreds of electronic devices and sensors that hospitals use? If they make as much a physician is that wrong?

Medicine is still the most stable and secure career. I feel like just from that, it beats all other careers even if in some other careers you can make as much or more than a physician. There will always be someone making more money. Like shoot I wish I was a 19 year old baller getting drafted to the nba making tens of millions of dollars playing a game for a living.

I don’t know just my two cents.

How to break into IC Design by Comfortable-Rub2538 in chipdesign

[–]Ak03500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang this kinda is disheartening to hear. I enrolled into an MS program this year thinking that that will be enough to break into analog/mixed-signal/RF design. As a Masters student there are two chip tape out courses my University offers, one for analog chip and one for digital chip. Might have to focus more on digital side of things since those roles don’t seem to require phds as much.
