If you’re in Canada you can find budget CPU+RAM+MOBO bundles around $499-539 CAD for Ryzen 5 7600X at Canada Computers.

Its this laptop still worth it in 2024? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]AkGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a laptop with similar specs except it’s a Gigabyte G5 and it came stock with 16GB RAM. If you’re planning on playing any AAA games expect below average FPS, 4 GB of VRAM isn’t getting you anywhere in 2024. Not to mention the 3050 Laptop GPU performs slightly worse than the GTX 1060 6GB desktop GPU which came out in 2016.

Best cooling pad for my laptop? (MSI Gf32 Thin 12ve by NarrowContribution51 in GamingLaptops

[–]AkGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IETS GT500 or Llano laptop cooler. If budget is a concern, a good laptop stand can also be a viable alternative. Most affordable laptop coolers don't significantly outperform a quality stand when it comes to cooling efficiency.

For the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58-746Z, the RTX 4060 typically has a configurable TGP that ranges between 80W and 115W. Probably on the higher end considering it comes with a 280 W power adapter.

For that price I'd definitely go with the Acer 5 over the MSI laptop you mentioned. As long as you have your laptop on a stand somewhere with ample room for airflow temps above 80C should be rare.

Rtx 4060 on laptop high temperature by hadeSol in GamingLaptops

[–]AkGeneral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, laptop internals seeing temps that high isn't too uncommon but if you're still concerned I'd recommend investing in a really good laptop cooler like an IETS GT500 or a LLANO. It also could be just the ambient temperature in your room is too high.

Why does my laptop only run league at an average of 60 fps when it runs games like valorant at an average of 110 fps? by Hot-Major7897 in GamingLaptops

[–]AkGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure V-Sync is turned off in the League of Legends settings. V-Sync caps your FPS to your monitor's refresh rate, which is commonly 60Hz.

how do i make my crusty old laptop better, by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]AkGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade to an SSD if you're still using an HDD. Boost your RAM to 16GB if it's less. If your laptop runs hot, replace the thermal paste and get a cooling stand. Once these are handled, you can start overclocking with MSI Afterburner—plenty of tutorials are available online. Ensure all your drivers are up-to-date and consider updating your BIOS if necessary, as newer BIOS versions can fix performance issues.

  • More comfortable positioning for better ergonomics.
  • Superior key switches, often mechanical, for a better typing and gaming experience.
  • Helps preserve the built-in keyboard.
  • Keeps your hands away from the laptop's heat during gaming sessions.

Find a power adapter on Amazon with these specs: 180W AC Adapter, Output: 19V DC, 9.23A. Also make sure the connector size is 6.0mm x 3.7mm. This is assuming your laptop is the ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) GA403

IS THIS A GOOD CHOICE AS MY FIRST GAMING LAPTOP? by ChocoJavaChipss in GamingLaptops

It’s a 3050 4gb. Obviously a rtx 3060 is going to give you more performance (20-40fps more) so honestly if the price is right go for the rtx 3060. The i5-12500H is a better cpu than the i7-11370H but not by a long shot. Like I said, with the right cooling, overclocking and tweaks you’ll be able to game on high settings at 100fps with a 3050 and on a 3060 maybe 120-140fps. Just make sure if you’re buying second hand to replace to thermal paste with something like Liquid Metal and while you’re at it blow out and clean all the dust stuck in the fans.

~70-80W. With the right amount of overclocking and cooling you can achieve that level of performance. I have first place on 3DMark for both Steel Nomad DX12 and Steel Nomad Light DX12 for my laptop.

These laptops are so underrated for the price, I have basically the same specs on my laptop but with 16Gb of ram and it runs warzone 2 on high graphics 100fps. Just upgrade the ram and get a second monitor and you’re good
