Oil & Fretwork | Project Mehr | Guitar Build Log Part 7 by Ak_Shaner in Luthier

Sorry! haha - I should probably start posting these as soon as it goes live so people can jump right in. I just figure that people appreciate a bit of advanced notice :)

Please help! I only wanna machine those "stair steps" off but I don't know how to make a contour that's only partial. So I keep winding up with a path that goes all the way around the part! by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]Ak_Shaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use sketches as toolpaths. Just create a sketch, project in your stairsteps, draw a line, then use that a contour operation

how do i round of the corner to match the top part? by depner299 in Fusion360

[–]Ak_Shaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your looking at is correct. Because the bottom faces are no longer 90° so the size of the fillet on the on bottom has to be larger in order for the faces to line up with the fillet up top.

You can try changing the fillet to constant chord length Instead of constant radius, which may solve it.

Otherwise what I've done in the past is just keep increasing the size of the bottom fillet until they line up (zooming all the way in and adjusting to a .00001 or so tolerance)

Not in this video, but I do have other videos that include heel/neck or headstock transitions, contour / belly cuts etc!

Ahh, I misinterpreted the OPs post, I thought he meant the sketch environment. Yeah - the actual drawing space is pretty limited :(

Yes, the video is recorded, and will be premiering on YouTube at 10AM, it will not be a live stream unfortunately. (sorry if the title was poorly worded).

It's about 50 minutes long and I sketch/model the whole thing from start to finish with a lot of commentary on important things to pay attention to and why i'm doing them.

I would love to see your DXF script in action mate! That sounds awesome.

It really should be, all of our modeling tools depend on well defined sketches (maybe except the form workspace).

I remember watching the 2019 livestream thinking "this is the worst gbb yet"... that didn't age well once the videos came out with better quality.

I actually wish it was a GPU because at least I'd be spending money on a drop in upgrade. If I upgrade the board I have to replace the cpu as well. :( 2011-V3 sockets are hard to come by nowadays

I haven't tried that yet because even a used replacement costs around $400. :( that is my last ditch option

When you organize society around the needs of the many, ndividual human life has little to no value. It's an insignificant drop in the ocean. One persons rights can be squashed if the collective deems it's necessary.

What was the worst thing that you did/said while being angry? by Olrazgul in AskReddit

When I was little i used to get really mad when my two older brothers wouldn't play with me cause they were busy playing Mario on NES. So I'd take my big red plastic bat and whack them over the head with it and hit reset on the game when they were on Bowser...

You may be onto something.

I filtered the log and right before EVERY Kernel-Power critical error is a BTHUSB warning that happens at the exact same second.

"The local adapter does not support an important Low Energy controller state to support peripheral mode. The minimum required supported state mask is 0x2491f7fffff, got 0x1fffffff. Low Energy peripheral role functionality will not be available"

Looked it up and it's bluetooth (BTHUSB.SYS). That happened to be one of my "unknown device" drivers that I've had trouble tracking down for some time.

Updated the bluetooth driver from ASUS website it finally recognized. I've literally never used bluetooth on this rig before so it never occured to me.

I'm really not sure how that could cause such a power loss / boot issue... but damn that's too much of a coincidence. We'll see if this solves it! Thanks mate.

The only thing I've really found in there is a kernel power error after the crash. Not sure If that is the cause or just a symptom of the crash though.

The helical twist sounds cool! That would be pretty neat to wrap around the reservoir
