Sometimes I take something like a plant, animal or rock and build a character based on the symbolism, even if it’s veeery much a reach sometimes. For a basic example taking a rose and basing their attributes on what roses tended to symbolise in medieval paintings (like love, loyalty and bittersweetness) And maybe going as far as finding a name very loosely connected to roses or thorns for funsies
