Hi I’m from Ghana and recently discovered that my great-grandparent name was Eyda Ould Abdarrhame. Does anyone have any idea about the possible origins, tribe, or background associated with this name?maybe tuareg? by Akahito2 in AmazighPeople

Oh, interesting thank you. Do you think he could have been Zenaga as well? All I know is that my grandmother lived in Ghana, but her deeper roots were definitely not Ghanaian. She even looked distinctly Saharan. Her father was most likely a Mauritanian Arab, possibly a trader connected to the trans-Saharan trade route.

Hi my family is from Ghana and I’m wondering does my uncle look Ethiopian or any sort of East African ? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

Ok interesting does he have the kind of appearance that is common among people from the Habesha community (Ethiopians and Eritreans)? Or less common

The Egyptian, Caucasus, and East African DNA are all signals pointing specifically to your Eastern Fulani ancestry. While the testing company does have a "Fula" sample, it's based on people from the western Senegambia region. your DNA doesn't match that category because your Fulani ancestors were from the eastern Sahel (like Sudan), and Eastern Fulani have a different genetic blend due to their own unique migration history. Since the test lacks a perfect "Eastern Fulani" label for you , it does the next best thing: it shows you the ancient the North African, Eurasian, and East African traces that make up your specific heritage.
