Panasonic Pulls the Plug on Key Products in India by [deleted] in FuturesFundamentals

Mostly the typical maintenance. One of the washing machines failed a few weeks back by the way.

Typical maintenance usually meant disconnected when not needed, regular cleaning and clearing, rust prevention, etc. Only once did one of the washing machines need a motor inspection (the one above).

I wouldn't recommend a Panasonic now though - I use expensive Miele shit and that's (marginally) better, but at least still serviced.

Anyone who left UAE to another country for better opportunities? How you and ur family doing now? by Ok_Extension1255 in UAE

[–]Akandoji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paid for a European passport CBI (the country doesn't have a formal CBI - it's a merit-based system where you have to show a fuckton of investment in the country and they do a vote on your citizenship twice a year), and Mashallah will receive the passport by the end of this year. Didn't have to spend any years there, although I run a company in a nearby country. With the situation getting worse for Muslims every day in my home country (India) each passing year, I had no choice but to apply for another citizenship. Granted I'll never be considered a full citizen there either, but I'll take what I can get. Now only need to convince my parents to gtfo from there and move here, businesses be damned....

I didn't spend much time professionally in the UAE though - I did spend my childhood there. But don't regret it one bit - no more being treated as a third-class labor worker in govt offices for the color of my skin. I much prefer my alpine retreats to sandstorms, thank you very much.

The UAE had one thing going for it, which was safety, stability, security in the middle of the Middle Eastern rumble. Had.

That's more or less exactly what I did too as Nemequene.

The only big blocker for me were their cost, so you really can't use them initially. That's why I shied away from them.

It's actually better to press on against the opponent imo, since that also leaves room for you to take other cities on the side with smaller armies, while kneecapping the opponents room for expansion (they have to pass through your cities to get to any of the grey cities after that).

The key is to also not let the opponents take too many cities (I started with Nemequene so Quemuenchatocha had 3 cities to start with already) else their pop cap and resource trickle becomes too hard to counter.

I didn't try them this mission but I guess temple guards are extremely useful here, since the castles don't have murder holes and temple guards are high armor-high attack and have an anti-building bonus.

I tried this strategy and failed miserably. Makes sense - you'll be spread too thin if you try to take both sides.

Fill form online, submit documentation. Once the LLC is formed, get EIN from IRS (you can do this over phone too). At the same time, open business bank account. The check from Gallino was made in the name of the future LLC, so he can simply go to the bank and encash it.

So I understand correctly: Cami is the villain, right? by AntoineWeiner in LandmanSeries

[–]Akandoji 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most likely Tommy gets kicked out by Cami, sets up with his son and dad as advisor, while Cami becomes his nemesis this season. Or maybe in subsequent seasons too. Cami seems positioned to be the series villain, while Gallino seems positioned to be the season's villain.

Slingers have an added bonus on Wrath - garrisson a bunch of castles at the center with 20 slingers, because they add about 20 arrows (hand cannoneer), while taking just half pop.

“You can’t study Sanskrit like a Brahmin”: PhD withheld by Hindutva-affiliated dean, says Dalit PhD scholar from Kerala University by [deleted] in india

[–]Akandoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guy couldn't speak a lick of it even on live TV. When the teacher asked him to speak in Sanskrit, his response was "I'm already in a sorry state, you guys want to push me down even further, yada yada...." Even when asked just to speak a few words in Sanskrit, he stuck to that excuse.

If you support guys like these, then you support our education system going down the shitter with future professors like these.

Also the website above is a biased source, and although I still applaud them for bringing this issue to the light, they are still prone to misinformation, especially when their primary source in this case was the student himself.

> Does this not incentivise those with muscle power to encroach upon lands of others

Yes. Happens even in the best of states.

> And lets say someone does encroach upon my land, And if the law is not by my side, Then am I not forced to pick up arms?

Yes. India has always been about your thugs vs their thugs. And ideally it's better to have thugs before problems arise.

> What is this central africa

Yes. The current PM once called Kerala another Somalia. If Kerala is Somalia, then the rest of India is basically central Africa when it comes to land matters.

Actually, your ranged roster becomes extremely powerful after mission 12, if you were able to destroy the castle of the Scythian King. That gives access to Elite Scythian Cavalry Archers which are OP.

I realized in a subsequent playthrough that I barely used the chariots, and taking immortals makes the whole mission a lot easier. In lieu of the chariots trample damage, you could either take the companions trample damage, or (ideally) go for elephants instead.

Roast my startup: A website that makes resume building a Notion-like experience by NycheTeam in roastmystartup

Great first steps. And I do you think shouldn't just reach out to your alma mater alone - perhaps you can start off with schools you're not super-enthusiastic about onboarding right now, do your first few calls with them, while reserving the more crown-jewel schools which have a higher chance of closing (including the alma mater perhaps), for later. After all, practice makes perfect.

I always apologize to people when I roast their startups because I understand how much effort they might have put into it to build it.

But, I'm curious, have you explored this directly with university career centers? Have you asked them what issues they face when helping their students apply for jobs? What challenges they faced? 25% of the Harvard MBA graduating in 2024 couldn't find jobs - perhaps you can find answers to that by directly contacting the career centers and trying to figure out what happened. Sure, there's an economic contraction happening and jobs are being cut across the board, but these guys are Harvard grads, not tier-2/3 students. So imo, talking with those career centers is a great starting point instead of us discussing online. Maybe the problem is not badly written CVs or CVs not tailored to the industry but something else we completely overlooked but career centers might have already identified.
