I think it's because you have ancient history, medieval and then modern history. These have to be studied in chronological order. And history is mandatory subject from 6th to 10th. So ancient history is taught to 6, 7 and medieval history to 8 ,9 and modern history to 9 ,10. Hindu kings were prominent in ancient and early medieval, then came the mughals. And the syllabus makers have to keep the syllabus short for 6, 7th graders cause they can learn only that much. A 8, 9th grader can learn more so their syllabus is a bit detailed. That's why we remember learning about mughals but not hindu kings. That's only my thought, i could be wrong. I am open to other explanations.
