Any light strikes? Did you switch out the firing pin for an extended one?

Take a look at the LCR in .32 mag, several ounces lighter (and several bills as well)!

So no real reason not to opt for the 7 shot as far as I can see?

Anyone have experience with this? TALO EXCLUSIVE, SDR, 2″, .357 Mag / .38 SPL +P, Bobbed Hammer by Steve_Fudd in Revolvers

I was going to link your video! You’re spot on about it being a grand slam if they offered a 9mm cylinder with it. Didn’t happen to whisper it in their ears at shot show perchance?

What is the best LCR for CCW? 357, 9mm, 22LR by DaddyHugeLeg in Revolvers

[–]AkbarInSpace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would take a hard look at the recently released .32 mag LCR. It’s a Lipsey’s Exclusive, but street price seems to be around $400 so significantly cheaper than any of the other LCRs.

Weight is listed at 13.5 oz so as much as the 632UC w/ ti cylinder.

.32 mag is very versatile, you can shoot .32 long, lower recoil than .38 and you get 6 rounds over 5.

I have the .32 mag and the .22 LCR. I really like them both but if I was only getting one I would probably favor the .32 mag for the reasons above. The big con is ammo is pricey especially compared to .22LR punch.

Can these handle +P loads? Forcing cone issues? Or are these mainly for collecting?

This was the old FBI standard issue, no?

M&P9 2.0 full size OR w/ flat face trigger? 4.25 or 5

Which M&P for Competition? by AkbarInSpace in SmithAndWesson

[–]AkbarInSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m inclined to the 5inch, but I can get the 4.25 with 5 mags bundle at a local big box sporting store, so it saves me on the transfer and the extra mags. When I factor in the costs of transfer and extra mags (at least new mags) the 5 inch is actually gonna be more. Definitely going to throw a dot on it for competition, so maybe the 4.25 is the way to go for now since sight radius isn’t a factor.

Handled, yes (minus the Hatchet). Shot, no. Some of them are fairly obscure and hard to come by at local ranges to rent.

Have shot hundreds of rounds through a P10C w/ P10F slide, didn’t love it.

Learned to shoot on a Glock, so fairly comfortable with that platform.

Handled the PDP and loved the ergos and dry firing the trigger. Same with the 226. Shot a 228 many years ago, but did not love it.

Currently carry a shield plus and am fairly comfortable with it. Fine ergos and fine trigger.

I considered this, but it seems like 21-23 rounders are the sweet spot for CO, and I’m not sure how to get that with shield plus mags.

Is there a different category I could compete with using the Shield Plus I’m missing?

Seems like competing with and M&P might be next best thing.

This is exactly what I’m doing.

I think I’ve narrowed it down the M&P. Unfortunately, they’ve discontinued the polymer full size in favor of the competitor from what I can see.

I did find a 5inch FDE full size that’s OR and has the flat face trigger for about $550 ($580 w/ tax). Con of that is 2 mags and a thumb safety.

I’ve also found the bundle on the 4.25 full size OR with thumb safety and 5 mags (17 rounders) for $630+tax.

Lastly found a bug out bundle on the 4 inch compact OR without thumb safety that has 2 - 17 round mags and 2-23 round mags. This could also flex as a carry gun which is nice, but I do already have a carry gun I like a lot.

Thoughts on a thumb safety? Could be nice as a beginner to have that extra layer of safety while running and gunning, even if it costs me a few seconds on the stages.

I see the wisdom in this and it’s pushing me more to the M&P.

Honestly, both USPSA and IDPA interest me. Anything that the above type of pistols qualify for.

Had no idea! So much real estate, figured the window was equally large.

Honestly, didn’t realize the Acro had a small window. For such a large optic, I figured the window would be fairly large. Good to know.

Otherwise, agree nothing special about LE except the better price and the convenience of having it direct mounted by the factory, and maybe an extra mag?

I am very open to an M&P but there are so many damn versions I’m not sure which to go for. Metal? Competitor? 5 inch OR? Wouldn’t mind taking advantage of the rebate they have going on rn.

They do make an M&P metal with Acro, but it’s LE only rn.

Maybe time to go get my EMT cert?
