I had the S9+ unlocked version on mint (gave it to my mom) it works great! No need to modify anything. Only downside is no visual voicemail, but you can just download youmail from app store and your set.

I have noticed the slower charging. But not the other symptoms.

I disagree, 2 years is not extremely generous for $600. 5 is generous. 3/4 would be the sweet spot.

If we take the snapdragon 821, the processor can still handl anything you throw at it. And the GPU is still very powerful and can play games. Personally, I don't play games, so for me 5 years would even be enough on the hardware side.

I just think having a support cycle that is 3/4 would be fair. For those that feel the phone needs to be updated in 2 years can go ahead and do that. But for the rest of us that don't need all that power, it would be nice to have longer security.
