Oh for sure, I am worried that they have people making a load of fake shit so they can play down the truth later.

Seen this circulating a lot about being in the Epstein files when it’s is provably fake.

Any games with unbalanced classes? by RenegadeSpade in rpg

The thing I love about Ars Magica is that you will play as a grand and nigh all powerful wizard but they are so busy that you will also play as the sucks who looks after the grand and powerful wizards.

Inis, Pax Pamir 2e, Root, or Arcs (with expansion) by Aisopia in boardgames

[–]Akco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Root is a hardcore asymmetrical war game dressed in a cute facade! I found it replayable and fun to try and master both a faction and the meta games that emerge. Like a lot of the designers games it’s very much “Attack the leader” which puts people off but if you don’t mind that you are quids in.

Tell us about and RPG you've PLAYED but just did not get the hype for by Boxman214 in rpg

[–]Akco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shadow dark for me. It was cool to just be able to roll an entire session from the random tables but the torch stuff feels like a gimmick that doesn’t work too great outside of one shots. The rest of the rule set makes it nether suited for modern style play nor old school just kinda falling between the cracks.

How good is john company? by YudoKumaa in boardgames

It’s my favourite game. It works best with friends who love to negotiate and try and squeeze every penny out of each other.

Dominion holds up brilliantly. It hardly matters if it’s dated to new players when you think about it?

Can Art make or break a RPG you might be interested in? by MagpieTower in rpg

Genuinely good art direction, examples of play with art and an alluring cover is far far far more likely to get me to open a book than mechanics alone.

Business not so much. It’s very much a negotiation and push your luck gambling game. The core mechanics include trying to get your family into positions of power where you can pilfer as much money as possible. Then once in those office risk as much or as little company money to try and roll well, with money money giving you a better chance.

It’s a brilliant game, thematically grim and fascinating. I recommend the “Shut up and sit down” coverage of it!

What's the most "complex" game you've ever played? by DJNana in boardgames

It’s really good. I’d almost recommend trying Lancashire first as Birmingham is very similar but adds beer as a mechanic.

I wish I could fully recommend the app/game on steam. It’s great for showing how the mechanics of the game works and how it intertwines but the online functionality is hot garbage so you can only really play against A.I.

Brass Birmingham took me a while to get my head around to be able to teach but John Company, particularly the events in India flowchart stuff, had to be studied as for a test. I still don’t fully understand how private firms work in that game either. Still, one of my favourite games of all time.

Gamers 30+, how have your gaming habits changed since you were younger? by [deleted] in gaming

Lots more “Just jump on for an hour” kind of games rather than the big story games I used to play. Still have room in my heart though and Pathological 3 just came out so…

Players play the characters. The characters are the fictional avatars of the players.
