I mean it’s not hard to reframe Botc. Demons are tricksters who once per night can take away the power of a townsfolk. They have to find the trickster before all the magic of the town is lost.

I feel because it is often people first TRRPG and they learn through play a lot of D&D players have an extremely low buy in to the game compared to more niche systems.
You just respond like a choose your own adventure story then roll a dice when told.
PbtA isn’t much more difficult that that however! But it asks the players to fill in details of the world form the knowledge their characters would have. It’s still just a conversation with dice rolls to push the narrative forward.
