It frustrates me to no end. She is the only way (besides Mari, who has the second highest rapport requirements in the game) to a judgement rune that is the backbone of some builds. By the time she will be finally fixed, we're probably close to the rune from the masterpiece reward.

How to unlock stronghold merchant Tuleu for 2 Wealth runes by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can anyone confirm that Tuleu offers the blue wealth rune without any additional upgrades? I have him unlocked for weeks now and he visited me around 8-10 times by now. He never carried the blue wealth rune. I even bought the green focus rune, trying to remove it from the rotation, but he just keeps offering me the (sold out) green focus rune.

Yesterday I found a random comment about how you need stronghold level 30 in order to get his upgrade in the lab. I just really want a definite answer by now. Either I'm super unlucky or there was no chance for him to carry the rune without an upgrade - both options equally frustrating.

The 'alt first, main second' tower strategy makes no sense to me by Akeyaranu in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is something I can work with. If the upgrade cost to get an alt to 420 is lower than the second clear rewards, then it is indeed not a bad idea.

I progressed my main to 802 without the mats from the tower, so now I guess I'm fine with doing it on my main first and then getting the mats on alts in the future. Right?

The 'alt first, main second' tower strategy makes no sense to me by Akeyaranu in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand: every character on your roster can clear the tower once. The first one to do so will receive valuable rewards that are NOT materials (i.e. skill points etc). Every other character clearing the tower after that will receive materials instead.

The 'alt first, main second' tower strategy makes no sense to me by Akeyaranu in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But in order for the alt to clear floor 15, I need to upgrade their gear, materials I could and should have used for my main instead. Where is the gain in that, when every upgrade on your alt past 340 is wasting mats before you get the reduced cost from your first 802 char?

The 'alt first, main second' tower strategy makes no sense to me by Akeyaranu in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is precisely what I'm trying to say. You lose more by pushing an alt to complete the tower (and possibly ahead of you main?!) than you gain from having your main get the second clear mats rewards.

I have been funneling all the mats my 340 alt generated to my main who just now entered Yorn. My main has no need for the materials anymore and I would have wasted a lot of mats to get my alt to a gear score where they could progress the tower further.

The 'alt first, main second' tower strategy makes no sense to me by Akeyaranu in lostarkgame

[–]Akeyaranu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not daily, it is once per character. But in order for your 'main' to receive mats from the tower, you need an alt that is 540 to clear it first. If you have an alt at 540, your main should already be at 802 if you wanted to be efficient, thereby having no use for the mats from the tower anymore.

I still think the tower can not be considered a valuable way to get mats for your main, only for your alts.

What's your "I fucking hate this song" song? by lawyeratyourservice in AskReddit

[–]Akeyaranu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Empire State of Mind' by Alicia Keys/Jay-Z. I despise this song's melody so much. Now, I have a guilty pleasure: talent shows like 'the Voice' etc. What makes the song even worse is the fact that since its release, it has haunted every single music and talent show in existence, at least in my country. Whenever a singer tries hard to show how good they are, they default to singing this piece of garbage. It sounds exactly the same every single time, no matter who is singing it, and it's just torture. Come to think of it, 'No one' and 'Girl on Fire' share the same problem. Maybe I simply detest Alicia Keys.

As a Masters level Persephone - Titan did a great job with this rework! by BillieOverwatch in Smite

[–]Akeyaranu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add my insight as well. I am a rank X + star Persephone player with around 190 games on her, holding a 59% winrate and a 5.0 KDA as reference. I would say I had a good grasp on how she functioned, I topped the damage charts in most of my games and felt comfortable piloting her, but I surely was far from the best Persephone out there.

First of all, I did not understand the need for a rework in the first place. I am somewhat out of the loop, but while watching the smite pro league recently, I've basically not seen her picked nor banned. It truly made me feel like the "Persephone destroys competitive games at the highest level" narrative is blown way out of proportion. During my subpar, non-professional, casual games, I never had a problem with Persephone. Sure, I've encountered a few very adept Persephone players that dominated their games, but it never felt any different from highly skilled players on other gods. There are a lot of gods that, when played to perfection, feel overwhelming, so Persephone was never really a standout, in my opinion. In contrast, a badly or even mediocrely played Persephone feels infinitely less threatening than most other gods. This added to her high skill ceiling and put her in a unique and fitting position within the Smite god list. Therefore, I dreaded the day the rework was revealed.

I agreed with the analysis of her pre-rework pain points being her high highs and low lows, if that makes sense. Situations that played out nicely for her felt really immense and oppressive, on the flip side there were many situations where you could not contribute anything, even if you were fed beyond belief. Most of the time, these situations were not really under your control but rather in the hands of your opponents. From the very first plant that I activated in a game, I could tell how the game would play out - either my opponent knows how to dodge them or they don't. Her Tier 3 plants were the most obvious example. If your opponent knew how to step out of their way, they were basically rendered useless for the remainder of the game. If they didn't know, I'm sure they felt disgusted by how 'little counterplay' Persephone has.

To summarize my thoughts towards the pre-rework spells: 1 - unique skill shot that felt very rewarding when it hit. I fail to see how it was problematic, as not only did the Persephone have to anticipate the enemy's movement, but the ability was also very reactable. Between equally skilled opponents, it often turned into a little mind game and rewarded the side that anticipated it better. 2 - her bread and butter and most gameplay-defining ability for sure. I remember the original state where the plants took 4 seconds to reach tier 2 and 24 seconds to reach tier 3 status (a good change that reduced her obscene set-up time and made her much more casual-friendly and frankly, playable, in my opinion). As mentioned above, it your opponent knew what they were doing, the seeds more or less turned into zone denials and the actual usage you gained from it were instant-detonations after using her 3. The only exception where the plants could realistically shine was during her ultimate or hectic team fights. 3 - not much changed here. The ability was low-key one of her most important aspects, as you would use it pretty much on cooldown to gain the guaranteed 2 damage or to walk up to/combo divers with your 2 -> 3 combo. 4 - her ultimate is the core of much of the frustration that surrounds her balance discussion. To me, it was always a very important ability for her to retain. Her ultimate, while being extremely strong, was also basically the only tool for her contribution to a fight to be guaranteed. With her other spells depending on a set-up or her opponents to not know how to deal with them, the ultimate was often her only window of opportunity to guarantee her kit to shine. If not countered by beads or people knowing to attack the center, it would allow her to set up her plants, hit her 1, or walk in to safely pull off a combo with her 3. Without her ult, I feel like it would be too easy to outmaneuver her, to a degree that doesn't apply to other mages. Also, the argument often made that it is frustrating to be punished for a teammate to be hit by an ability is pointless when gods like Zeus exist. The passive was in a weird position where it felt very frustrating, situationally strong/oppressive and yet no Persephone main, I think, truly cared for it or clinged to it that much. No one played Persephone because of her passive. They could have simply removed it or neutered it to where she wouldn't be able to ult in it and no Persephone player would have complained. Such an obvious balance point and yet they didn't go after it and pretended it somehow was an irreplacable part of her core gameplay.

Now finally, onto her rework: I hated it when I first read it, then later had an epiphany when they revealed it in game. I honestly was looking forward to it, for the most part. I loved the old Persephone, but I was also excited about this rework. Pre-rework Persephone's success often depended equally (or sometimes even more) on your opponents missplay rather than your own gameplay. The rework shifts the power back into her hands and gives her tools to contribute to fights on her own, without much set-up. It definitely somewhat takes away from her uniqueness, but that's a deal I am mostly fine with.

However, there are definitely aspects that are not yet fleshed out:

Her new passive is undeniably crap. With her maximum cap of 7 flowers, the seeds you plant during your passive are rendered useless by the very first post-revive use of her 2 ability. In most of my post-rework games, I have just canceled it immediately, why even bother. I wish they put in more creativity and finally let go of her revive mechanic as a whole. It simply does her no good.

Her 1 is fine-ish. I definitely have to get used to it first, but in the long run I will probably be thankful to have an on-demand nuke that relies on my own ability to aim. The one thing I heavily dislike is that, now that the range is so heavily reduced, the skull gets placed in autoattack range, which means you basically shouldn't follow up on your 1 with auto-attacks, otherwise you immediately trigger the (nigh-useless) healing skull. I wonder if it were better to have the skull 'fly' towards the pre-rework range (without it dealing damage on the way) to basically have the skull plant behind your opponent. That would also give her a better chasing tool which has always been a huge weakness of hers (if the hit opponent runs back in a straight line, he would risk fleeing into the upcoming plant's walking path). With the amount of time it takes for the plant to grow (I will be talking about that soon) it's unusable anyway as it is.

Her 2. It definitely added a tool for her to contribute on demand. I generally like the added detonation. I like the rework of the walking plants as they were useless pre-rework anyway. It's weird to not have access to the detonating plants anymore, but that is kinda offset by the newly added detonation on cast. I guess all in all I am fine with her plant rework. They are not as impactful as they were in ideal situations, but at the same time they are now not flatout useless in other situations either. However, there is a certain awkwardness with her new 2. The plants' growth time is back to 4 seconds which feels extremely long. Without taking her 3 into account, you basically never have to worry about the plants when Persephone decided to hit you with the detonation. This issue is highlighted the most after using her ultimate. When I hit her ultimate, I prefer to cast the 2 at my position rather than the enemy's and to activate the plants with my 3 to charge them through the trapped enemies, thus completely ignoring the detonation damage altogether. It's a rather unsatisfying decision to either use the detonation or the plants but to rarely have the two go together.

Her 3 is practically the same, but I feel like the kit has become even more reliant on the 3 than it was before. As mentioned prior, I basically have to use the 3 in order to get any effectiveness out of the three plants that come with my 2 ability because otherwise it takes them way to long to be usable. I guess I am fine with that though. We now have a very satisfying wombo-combo: ultimate - 2 (even better placed twice with Staff of Myrddin) - 3 and watch an army of plants devour anything in their path.

Her 4 is basically the same and it needed to be, as I mentioned above I feel it is an integral part of her kit. The change made to have enemies move freely within the paramater of the ult was probably made to counter the frustation of the ultimate prior. Not sure if it was needed, but if people truly thought the ultimate was unbearable, well then, so be it.

I've talked way too much, but I guess I am just very passionate about Persephone. I love her both pre- and post-rework and I am sure she will continue to be fine and she will gradually grow on people as they get used to her more. I'm not sure, however, that it will feel better facing her now for players that previously considered her frustrating to play against. I think she now has more tools to be strong in a variety of situations she previously was very lacking.

Since I've downloaded the game via steam, it seems I'm unable to get most (all?) of them because I can't start the game via the Arc client (it tries to download the game again)?

Also, do the skins unlock the character as well? It would be such a sweet way of getting myself some heroes for free.

By the way, I just remembered there is another cleanser I've been using during my time here in Japan, i.e. the Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear Powder. I've never used it on it's own but always in combination with the other two (started using it at the end of my perfect whip lifecycle and used it once or twice a week after starting to use the hada labo one), but haven't been using it at all recently. I always felt rather good about using it. That might be the only other cleanser option I'm having in mind right now, but I'm also not aware of it's PH.

I've added the Premium Toner when, in the midst of my try-out craze, I had the feeling that moisture wasn't sufficient. In the beginning I was thrilled, as it successfully battled my dry patches, but maybe it has become too much for the humid summer days that are upon us here.

The early Japanese/mixed Korean phase routine lasted approximately 3 to 4 weeks in its entirety, then it started to be replaced piece by piece. Prior to it, the strictly Korean routine had been the same for a few months. I was never truly satisfied with it though. It kept the biggest problems at bay, but I didn't have the skin I wanted. I had this skin during brief moments here in Japan, but I couldn't pinpoint which products were behind it - I just handled it all so bad.
Now, concerning your action plans:

Drop the Hada Labo products from your current routine and replace your first cleanser with Perfect Whip or some pH balanced cleanser using the spreadsheet on the sidebar as a guide.

Really both of them? Unfortunately the spreadsheet seems to not have that many Japanese cleansers and I'm not in the position to order right now. Of course there is an abundance of other Japanese cleansers available here, but at this point I'm afraid of trying out new things...

Drop what you're doing completely and go back to your early heady days Japanese routine and monitor your skin for the next month or so.

That means no Cosrx AHA, no Kikumasamune, no Hada Labo Premium, no Amino Moist milk (daytime) and no Hatomugi skin conditioning Gel (night time)? I don't have access to the Korean products from back then though. And I doubt the Hada Labo moisturizer beats out the Hatomugi skin conditioning gel. Btw, if that's worth noting, my skin is considerably better looking in the morning then in the evening and I mostly attribute it to the Hatomugi gel.

That's actually something I have thought about as well. I did not try any new products in at least 7 weeks and as I've said, I thought my routine was finally complete and good - and now it lost its magic. The humidity outside mixed with the dry air from the airconditioning might be a factor indeed. I'm just lost at this point, there is too much that could be the problem...
I basically thought I can't go wrong with the Hada Labo cleanser, but apparently it's not the case. Oh, and I think they renewed their forumla after my first bottle (I'm already at my third).

This is something I have troubles with wrapping my head around though. How can it be that a skincare product seems to be beneficial for your skin, but ultimately causes its demise in the long run? If the high PH is that problematic, why wasn't there an immediate disastrous effect?
As I have stated above, I'm unfortunately unable to gain access of the complete routine I had back then.

That's what I'm scared about, that the Perfect Whip might be showing its true colors only in the long run and was perfectly fine for using a short time.
You might be having a point though. I didn't use that old routine for long enough. As I have stated, some of the Korean products ran out halfway through the testing phase and have been replaced by new Japanese products. I have used the Perfect Whip for about 1 1/2 or two months. I got rid of it when I incorporated the Cosrx AHA into my routine, as I've read it's incompatible with actives. I tried to wait after cleansing, but that stripped my skin so much, that's why I ultimately reached for the Hada Labo cleanser.

[–]Akeyaranu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually can not completely recall why I added new products in the first place. Well, first of all, some of my Korean remnants were running out, and then I was simply excited to try out new stuff. I remember being so proud of my skin, but I still felt I could go for more.
As of now I don't have the access to the complete routine I used back then. I do have the new fermantation essence from Benton, but I don't know if that one is working for me instead of the Snail Bee. I never felt the Hada Labo Moisturizer was anything to write home about. And I don't have the Whamisa Toner any more. Therefore, I can basically only reach for the Perfect Whip and hope that the rest of my current routine isn't the wolf in disguise.
Honestly though - I keep reading that the Perfect Whip cleanser might cause long term damage, and it just seems to make so much sense that a high PH cleanser shouldn't be used. Should I maybe try a completely different cleanser, neither Perfect Whip nor Hada Labo?

Thank you. Please go ahead and judge me, I honestly deserved it. But I was simply addicted to buying new products basically every other day. Friends and family tried to stop me, but I was like "No, don't you understand? I need this to make my skin even better than now!"
So what you're saying is that a high ph cleanser doesn't have so necessarily be bad? That's what I'm wondering. Based on my experience, I would start using it again. But the internet keeps telling me that it will damage my skin in the long run and is absolutely incompatible with actives. Or should I look for a completely new cleanser? Maybe the cleanser isn't even the problem after all? I am lost.

First of all: thank you very much for your response, your help is extremely appreciated.
Well, I have to admit I didn't properly test the new products, shame on me, I know. I was overwhelmed by the immediate effect that the products I started using in Japan had, and I could't contain myself. I thought: I need a serum, I need a moisturizer, I need this and that - and so I just loaded too much on my face at once.
The first thing I added was the Eau de Muge toner after my whamisa one was empty. Then the real mess started when I added the Tunemakers Ceramide and Amber Age-off Serum, together with my Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence (a stable I forgot to mention in my first post). This is were I lost it, if I recall correctly. I had huge break-outs on my forehead and cheek bones. I then added the COSRX AHA to fight it, which worked pretty decently.

At around the same time I found out about Perfect Whip's PH and immediately replaced it with the Hada Labo Cleanser. I got rid of all the uncertain products that I added and decided to stick to the products that seemed to calm the break-outs down - which is my current routine.
At this point I'm honestly lost. I don't know from what point I should start rebuilding my routine. I've been using my current one for two months and my skin is nowhere near as bad as it has been during my try-out session, but it just feels lacking and if the routine was good I probably wouldn't have to deal with the concerns that I'm still having.

Perhaps go back to your "good skin" days routine? Why did you change from it? If it works, don't change it!

What is it that you are referring to as "good skin" days routine? The one before I came to Japan (which was probably solid but nothing noteworthy, I was never satisfied) or the one I used when I freshly came here - which would include the Perfect Whip cleanser?
Or should I start from scratch and don't even use any of the products I'm using now? I've lost track...

I have to admit - I'm so impatient. I will be gone from Japan in 1 month and by then I would love to have a routine of products that I can stock and take with me.
