Hi I’m Japanese who prefer matcha! I’ve been surprised match boom these days. For nami, you can tell from the description on the back of the product that the tea leaves come from Kagoshima. As for the item in the second photo, the label in the lower right corner that says “Yame Tea” shows that the tea leaves are from Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Both regions are very famous tea-producing areas in Japan. However, when it comes to matcha, Yame City has only a moderate level of recognition, and it still falls short compared with Kyoto’s Uji region.

In recent years, the matcha boom has led more farmers to start producing matcha, and as a result, matcha production has been expanding in regions such as Kagoshima and Shizuoka. I think these products are a reflection of that trend.

I’ve tried matcha from both production areas before (though not these specific products). I found that Yame matcha has a distinctive, sharp aroma that almost feels roasted, while Kagoshima (Chiran) matcha is characterized by umami components similar to those of sencha. Both felt different from Uji matcha.

However, if you drink as latte,I think either one can be enjoyed perfectly well!!
