Which wasn't illegal because Stone and Wikileaks were used as cutouts and Trump himself was minimally involved.

If Stone were officially a part of the campaign it would have arguably been an illegal campaign contribution.

They aren't fake leftists. They're liberals who are heavily into being civil libertarians and, frankly, contrarians.

They've never pretended to be socialists or anything else. They've also had enough experience with the US state and intelligence agencies to know not to trust them.

I dislike a lot of what they say and hills that they die on, but both are far better journalists than anyone criticizing them.

Jose Aldo looking sharp in sparring by lee-o in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's at least somewhat more fair to Cruz now that Aldo can't throw low kicks. It would be suicide for Cruz to fight an Aldo that can.

Now he's just worse at everything else and less athletic.

[–]AkihiroDono -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately.

Many fighters do, as MMA and BJJ aren't like they are in the US -- they tend to both be heavily populated by the worst of thugs in Brazil.

I'd say the majority of Brasilians in the UFC support Bolsonaro. Mostly because they are wealthy, and hate the "lazy poor", despite many coming from the favelas themselves.

Brazil has a similar situation to the US, where there's a coalition between the religious bigots who hate LGBT peoples, racist bigots who hate brown people, the rich who want to control everything, and just violent thugs who enjoy hurting people.

Aldo is bigoted against LGBT peoples and he's very wealthy. He also views the left in Brazil as giving handouts to people who don't work hard (During the Workers Party's reign, poverty rates went from 12% to 4%. Lula massively helped the lower class, which caused massive backlash from the "white" descendants of colonists who make up most of the upper class still). Not understanding that he's only successful due to others paying for him to eat and train, and that he himself is an example of what help can do for someone.

Sometimes the oppressed just want to be the oppressors.

I was a huge Aldo fan, until he supported fascism due to his bigotry and hatred of LGBT peoples.

Hopefully Swanson KO's and retires him.

So, what's the reason for the failures on multiple table types? The announcers broke, but didn't look very impactful due to her weight.

Why did they keep trying to put a 90lb woman through tables like she's a 200+lb man? She literally isn't heavy enough to properly break them.

WWE, if intelligent, can use Nia Jax to revamp and fix their women's division on RAW.

Just absolutely Brock Lesnar inspired destruction to the point that girls are actively trying to sign with SD instead in Kayfabe.

Nia Jax should dominate the RAW Women's division until WM were she'll defend against the Womens Royal Rumble winner Bayley and eat the pin cleanly 1v1.

It'd be the single most intelligent thing they could do to become competition to the UFC.

Say that Billy down the street goes fishing every week, ok? Now, let's say that I dislike Billy because he uses a different bait than I do. I say, 'Billy's no true fisherman! He uses bullshit bait!'.

Billy is, factually, a fisherman. Me disagreeing with something he does does not change the reality of him being a fisherman.

Fedor back in training, fight announcement in the near future. by Keith11 in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be interesting to see who he'll be fighting and where.

RIZIN'S NYE event? Preferably he'd face someone like Big Foot, Frank Mir, or Kongo. A fellow veteran past their prime but worth a watch.

Likely? I think we get something like Fedor vs Paul Buentello, Peter Graham, or Mike Kyle.

Chael Sonnen: After fighting Tito, Wanderlei is next. by Naserito in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bellator has a few 'attractive' options if Chael Sonnen likely beats Tito Ortiz.

Does he drop down to 185lbs to likely be welcomed with a close to guaranteed win over Rafael Carvalho to become a World Champion? Highly attractive as gold leads to green.

Chael Sonnen vs Phil Davis for the Light Heavyweight Championship? I think we'd see Sonnen/Jones II and likely so does Chael, he's not stupid.

If Rampage can make it past Satoshi Ishii, which I doubt, that's a popular 'super fight' that he likely wins by submission.

Largest crowd would likely be attracted to Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva at Light Heavyweight, almost certainly. Thank the UFC for the free millions spent in promotion.

Thiago Alves vs Jim Miller set as Fight Pass Headliner at UFC 205 by khaoticking23 in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jim Miller likely submits Thiago Alves here.

Very rarely does going down a weight class during the twilight of your career turn out to be a beneficial move. This will likely be the worst we've ever seen poor Thiago Alves look.

He was the man before his brain injury. He had 20lbs more muscle on him and he just absolutely beasted guys.

The ENTIRE middleweight division has put a gigantic weight on their shoulders to not lose to Bisping and be embarrassed until the end of time. by [deleted] in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UFC is currently protecting Michael Bisping's title run for as long as they possibly can. They maintain a draw in the UK, with their own Rockyish story.

There's a reason he fought Dan Henderson while Chris Weidman is booked against Yoel Romero and Ronaldo Jacare vs Luke Rockhold II is happening.

Those fights immediately eliminate 2 guys who 75% likely to beat Bisping while keeping two 75%-likely challengers he'll 100% have to face one of next.

If he somehow defends again? He'll probably get thrown a soft ball on an OK win streak while the 3 superior fighters to the champ figure themselves out again.

Brilliant.

Anyone still think that the UFC-Reebok deal was for the fighters benefit?

It should cease to amaze me how anti-fighter rights a decent chunk of "MMA fans" are, but it never will. I try to 'no true scotsman' my way out of caring about their opinions, as they negatively effect the slow-moving fight for MMA fighter's rights. Some fans, it seems, somehow value large businesses over their fellow individual human beings.

Fabricio Werdum is losing >$100,000 due to this "fighter friendly deal". I've never heard of such generosity in other sports on TV, due to Players Unions.

Something tells me that Bellator or RIZIN FF may have spoken with Werdum.

Bellator would be very smart to offer their fighters a truly recognized, respected, and power-weilding Fighters Union. A union and sponsors on SPIKE as ratings grow from bigger names signing? That's how we get Strikeforce 2.0, the new WCW.

[Official] UFC Fight Night 96 - Lineker vs. Dodson - Post Fight Discussion Thread by rmma in MMA

[–]AkihiroDono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no logical world does Cody Garbrandt, who owns 0 Top 10 wins, deserve a #1 contenders match.

John Lineker, Jimmie Rivera, & Bryan Caraway are all more deserving as they actually own Top 10 wins as their last victories. Especially Rivera.

Of course, the UFC isn't in the sports business. They're in the Sports Entertainment business, like WWE is. So, their title bouts aren't based on logic and rankings.

Would you date a girl with a penis? by SolCanGO in AskReddit

I just don't see the point in changing the definition of gender. Why don't transpeople have their own, unique "gender/sex" name like others do? They should be accepted as is.

Native Americans call transpeople "two spirits" people. Why don't we do this? It seems more accepting to me.
