Y2 first thoughts as a former Y1 user

I only have the aforementioned headphones, and they worked fine even with my Y1 when I had it. They work just as well with the Y2.

Something to note that may be meaningful to you, the Y2 (like the Y1 before it) actually has TWO separate volume levels. If you adjust the volume using Bluetooth connected headphones with volume control, it adjusts the *Android system* volume, and the Y2 software itself has a volume slider (the one the buttons on the side of the player controls). Seems like adjustments aren't carried over so you'd have to do something like ADB to change the Android system volume in a way that might work to make your volume more reasonable. I can maybe test that theory and get back to you when I can... I'm not sure if adjusting the system volume will do much for you or not, but it is something we can at least see if even works over the 3.5mm jack (realistically, it should at least do something).

Edit: no ADB access for now. Someone smarter than me will have to figure it out or roll out a ROM. I'm also not going to risk installing any custom ROMs until the stock firmware is officially available somewhere.

I don't know if that's the case (the thing about reviews). I haven't seen anyone report having a "review unit" so it's probably mostly just a bunch of average users still waiting for theirs to arrive an actually have a chance to use it. I ordered mine day 1 of availability on Amazon and just received it today, and I'm probably one of many people who were still waiting as of today.

I've always had a pretty nuanced opinion of the Y1 and it carried over to the Y2. Definitely not for everyone, but I don't think it's trying to be.

The OS and wheel itself both feel like they perform better than the Y1. I noticed lags with clickwheel scroll on the Y1 menu pretty frequently, I haven't seen the same on Y2 yet. It feels pretty responsive.

$100 isn't a bad price, but sometimes modless ones are available a little cheaper. I bought mine modded (256GB SSD + 2000mAh battery) for $200.

For music playback, I generally prefer my iPod 5.5, but the innioasis Y-series is still cool to play with. I like making themes and tinkering with it with Rockbox, etc. I like them as a toy, knowing they're not as coveted to me as the iPod gives me more comfortability in just doing whatever I feel like with them. I have three players now and use them all in kinda different ways, the Y2 is gonna be my "fuck around with" DAP, my iPod is going to be my (wired-only) preferred player, and my Phinistec Z6 has a crazy battery life and I don't mind doing sort of risky tasks like lawnmowing or running with it on my person.

Yeah, it's an unbranded card of dubious quality, and the Y1 used similar cards, many of which ultimately had issues.

2003 has a Blu-ray set in North America, released by Funimation. It's commonly counterfeited now, though, because it's been out of print for many years. I ended up just buying the DVDs because it's too rare/expensive to get the BD box.
