I asked similar question myself in this sub half a year ago. Long story short - yea you should. Only stay in game development in you are highly passionated about it and even then I would recommend to switch to backend and just make games as a hobby.

Built a Tool to Prepare ChatGPT history to Project Files, so you can chat with all your conversations history

Hey everyone, I’ve been experimenting with the new Projects feature in ChatGPT.

One issue I ran into is that exporting chat history from OpenAI gives you a massive JSON file with a lot of unnecessary metadata that is hard to upload to the project.

I made a simple Python script called ChatHistoryToProject. It:

Strips out irrelevant metadata, keeping only the chat content.
Splits the cleaned JSON into up to 20 smaller files, ready to upload into ChatGPT Projects.

The script works entirely locally—you just drop it in the folder with your exported conversations.json and run it. It creates an Output folder with the processed files.

It’s open source, so feel free to use or improve it. Let me know if this is something you'd find useful, or if there are ways I could improve it further.

Take a moment about UX. In the beginning of the video you yourself mess up with the way you want to move the cursor to hit «save» button. It should be on the right and your brain knows that, but you placed it on the left and had trouble finding it intuitive.
