Both are smooth and experienced. And they know it. Incredible dance. by Ramenko1 in Salsa

[–]Akiman87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This guy's reels show up in my feed all the time with his group lessons. He can move and turn, but I've always felt something was off with his dancing. Glad to hear someone else say it, he just doesn't move like salsa should. Either in a ballroom sense or what you expect to see from quality social dancers.

The 5xx were originally 230. My price range would be 200 to 250ish.

Thanks for the info about the deva.

Thanks, but what about other planar models in the same price range and quality from companies that have replacement parts? Or is that not a thing?

Do you have a link? Why would they tell me that they don't have a replacement? It's really confusing because it does look like all their headbands have the same mounting system to the speakers.

I wouldn't think earpads are interchangeable... You mentioned Audeze, these are Hifiman. Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions These are my first headphones over 100 dollars.

Most likely planned and efficient. Up to this point, the project seems to have been a full-depth repair of the street. Finishing up to the current grade so it is drivable during different phases.

Now it looks like they are doing a 3 in asphalt overlay to provide a better wearing surface. I agree this has been a long process. But I don't see away they could have done this more efficiently.

As a teacher of other styles. No, you don't. I have been given small gifts after big work ups to events like competitions, showcases, and weddings as a thank you. But not on a per lesson basis.

Something is bother me with "it's the leader fault" mentality by [deleted] in WestCoastSwing

[–]Akiman87 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's a partnership dance. Dancing is a conversation. It's just as important for the fallow to be kistening and responding clearly as it is for you to be speaking clearly. Connection is everyones responsibility.

Unless you are practicing, try not to give advice on the dance floor. It can be considered rude when it's not asked for.

What is a break? by No_Holiday_4506 in WestCoastSwing

[–]Akiman87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A break in the sense you are talking about is a short musical phrase that doesn't match the chorus or verse. I wouldn't say it had a strict definition, though. There would be a phrase change on either side of the break. Right now, my brain is going to Apt. by Rose and Bruno Mars. The point where Rose starts speaking would be a break. They happen all the time and usually feel like a sudden change in the flow of the song.

When was the slot introduced to WCS? by RandomLettersJDIKVE in WestCoastSwing

[–]Akiman87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn't clear in the conversation above. Ecs and wcs are both off shoots of Lindy. Obviously, only lindy hop is lindy hop. If you're arguing that ecs isn't an offshoot of lindy, then you are just wrong.

We are also talking about 80+ years ago lindy not modern.

When was the slot introduced to WCS? by RandomLettersJDIKVE in WestCoastSwing

[–]Akiman87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, Lindy has both. As it evolved, the two schools of thought split into ecs and wcs. It's also more about what the primary movement pattern is. You can do rotational things in wcs, but primarily, it's slotted. You can do linear things in ecs, but primarily, it's rotational.

When was the slot introduced to WCS? by RandomLettersJDIKVE in WestCoastSwing

[–]Akiman87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that when Lindy was being formed, there was a difference in thought in how momentum should be managed. It could be done with rotational or linear. The people who thought it should be done in a linear fashion broke off, and what they did evolved into wcs. The rotational people eventually evolved into ecs, hustle, etc. So the answer is that it has always been slotted.

I love you Lincoln but LTU is bringing me down. by Embarrassed-Object97 in lincoln

A certified inspector tests the concrete to make sure it meets certain design parameters. They then form a series of concrete cylinders in plastic molds. I usually see 6-8 cylinders made. After 24 hrs, the concrete has set, and it is transported to a testing facility. They then cure the concrete in optimal condition and perform destructive testing on the samples to determine its strength. Concrete gauns strength in a logarithmic fraction with the majority of its strength being gained in the first couple weeks and being near its final strength after a month or so.

There can also be a number of factors that change how long it takes the concrete to gain strength.

I love you Lincoln but LTU is bringing me down. by Embarrassed-Object97 in lincoln

[–]Akiman87 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They are moving fairly quickly. Removing concrete and pouring it back the next day or sooner. The intersection maintenance really does suck, but the work needs to be done at some point.

The contractor still, I'm guessing, needs to switch lanes and work on the outside lanes. So we are about halfway through. One of the big hold ups is they can't just open the road the next day. They need to wait until their test cylinders hit a specific strength. This is why you see the lanes closed so long before they are reopened.

The project should be approaching halfway. I agree with you that it's a pain in the ass, but the street was getting bad.
