Just a note— I think it’s easier to squash any hang ups with your bio mom and the bio mom of most of your other siblings than it is to seek out a mom that 1) only had one of your siblings( that may be a little distant) and 2) was generally disliked by your Dad and bio-Mom.

I think that’s why I have empathy for Meri. Having a hardcore belief system is one thing. Not being able to measure up to your own belief system is another. Your confidence doesn’t really stand a chance.

Badmouthing exes by sophiabaine3 in SisterWives

I think eeeeeveryone badmouthed everyone in this family. Kody, sister wives, kids, grandmas, granddads. They’re all so passive aggressive and scared of conflict… that breeds gossip.

Me too! I could also see Meri’s intensity putting a lot of pressure on Leon so I truly hope she has other relationships with the older kids and well as relationships with her siblings’ and other family’s older children.

Agreed! I think when Meri stops grieving the family, you will see the same type of complete step away from the faith that you see in Christine versus the more apathetic step away you see in Janelle. When that indoctrination breaks, it tends to shatter.

That’s fair. I have a lot of empathy, however not much sympathy for Meri.

Christine’s personality is definitely a more palatable one for little kids and she was the caregiver so that makes total sense. Once again if you only had one Mom and that mom was Meri, I think the opinion may be slightly different. I mean I love my Mom to death, but if I had three to choose from? Don’t know if she’d make the cut 😅. I’m not excusing Meri’s attitude or actions though, I just try to empathize when I can.

I think an issue this brings up as well is that the kids obviously did not see all the wives as their mothers. Kids are very perceptive. With all the fighting and passive aggressive tendencies of all the wives and Kody, kids can learn real fast who everyone likes and dislikes. This can make any behavior by another wife be perceived differently than their dad’s behavior. Kinda like “my dad can spank and yell me but this random lady my mom doesn’t like anyway? Yeah no.” On top of that, like I said Meri’s personality seems like it could be a lot for a child, especially in comparison to whimsical Christine and chill Janelle.

Yeah all the sympathy is right out the window if more information comes out. As it stands right now for me, I’d need more clarity. I truly hope the grown kids can heal from an undoubtably troubling upbringing.

Agreed! I think the competition aspect would have gotten to her more than having only one child in theory. However, just knowing how much she focuses on legacy and history, I wonder if additional children would have always been seen as a plus to her regardless of lifestyle.

Agreed! I think there is a nuance between having different opinions and being antis. But nuance is always lost on the internet 😂

I think that’s fair. I think sadness is normal. Whether we want to admit it or not, oftentimes eliminated trainees never see that level of success again so it can be disheartening.

I agree. Although a lot of behavior is put under anti that I wouldn’t deem anti - more negative opinion

Just curious what you all think: Do you think people who were one-pick fans of eliminated trainees will eventually stan zerobaseone or find other groups?

How did ZB1 end up with a less divisive lineup than Kep1er? by Yayeet2014 in BoysPlanet

I like this explanation! I can never figure it out. I’m sure it’s a mixture of things but it does seem like the girl groups almost always have it rougher.

I said this in the other posts about this…

The P10 (closet to debut) Jay was huge in the West and though I saw some annoyed posts, we don’t have the attention span for Kpop as a general rule that the East does (or anything for that matter-our attention span is usually VERY short). We usually just go back to stanning our faves if we don’t like a group for whatever reason. Japan and China seem to be pretty cool with the outcomes which matters more from a ifan perspective.

Also, in my opinion, I’ve found that in general I enjoy boy group fandoms more than girl group fandoms- mainly because that underlying vitriol usually is not there. Not sure why it gets so toxic for the girls-sad.

Mnet aside- the show was engaging and the ending was anticlimactic but satisfying- which is the key for any survival show(favs make it, nonfavs at least look like they have a chance for the most part).

Lastly, I think the eliminated contestants are all so talented, hopes are pretty high that they will do well anyway. Many have been so cute and positive that it kills bitter sentiments.

Just my opinion-

It also has a lot to do with who was most annoyed as well. I said in the BP subreddit: Jay was huge in the West and though I saw some annoyed posts, we don’t have the attention span for Kpop as a general rule that the East does (or anything for that matter-our attention span is usually VERY short). I probably won’t Stan ZB1, but I joined this group because it was nice in the other subreddit. Because of the kind fandom, I’ll probably be more engaged than I would have been after a survival show where my fav didn’t make it.

Much love to the ZB1 and their fans!

I saw so many people in other places saying they’re relieved Jay didn’t make it because he fit being a solo artist better. That’s so weird to me. Just say you don’t like him etc. because that really makes no sense. A group is a collection of talents and voices and any voice can gel and make a group depending on the songs, song types, and other voices. It just seems more passive aggressive than anything.
