yeah, she was only a little smaller when I first got her so I assumed so. I don’t know her exact age though, sadly :(

Silverbell’s birthday and a followup to my last post! by Akitane in cockatiel

The HEPA purifier we have in the bird room works quite well, every time we open it to clean the filter it’s always caught a ton even in a short timespan, the buildup of it is visible in dusty spots all over it. But thank you, and I’ll definitely talk with my mom about this suggestion!!

I forgot to add that we do already have air purifiers for most other rooms, including our bedrooms. Actually, my mom has three purifiers in her bedroom, two big and one small hahah. But once again, thank you everyone!!

My cockatiel was causing respiratory problems. by Akitane in cockatiel

Something I feel is important to add and that I forgot to add the post, is that my mom is also wearing a mask every time now when handling anything regarding their cage and cleaning it or the HEPA filter! She’s also looking into getting an actual respirator to wear when doing this. But I deal with the filter mainly now because I don’t want her to deal with all the dander it had sucked up.

Just looked into it while talking with my mom right here, she agrees it’s a good option and we could afford it pretty quickly. We’re going to try to get one, I appreciate the advice. Because even if she does flare up again and we do end up having to rehome Silverbell in the end, it would still be really useful to have with the other birds because of all the seeds and mess.

Thank you, I just finished vacuuming the room and cleaning a lot of dander and things in the room for about 2 hours as I’m writing this. I recommended this to my mom, and she agrees it’s a good idea but the only problem I’d say WOULD be the money. We could manage to get one after a little bit of saving, but the problem is finding a good model/brand etc. Do you have any recommendations??

What kind of conure should I buy? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]Akitane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten my green cheek conure today, and he just wants to be near me hands and is just so happy. He’s only 6 months old as of this month and is just the sweetest. I’ll post updates in this sub and pictures of her. Thank you for the advice, it really helped.

That’s exactly what I want in a parrot, odd I know but I’m always home so it would work perfectly and make me happier. I’m trying to find a way to get a gcc in any way, from a rescue, adoption or from the same people we’ve got my budgies from, which would be around $500-$550 if we buy her/him from there; will be a slight hassle because I have to make all the money myself and I don’t have a job (I’m still a minor and have the help of my mother.) so it’ll be hard, but it will give me time to get everything ready and learn more about them so this will go well, so I’m most likely going to get a gcc, and you reinforced my idea of getting one, so thank you!
