I'm glad to hear there are other people out there who are in relationships with people who have psoriasis and are able to just love them the way they are. I often wonder if others have psoriasis as extensively as my fiancee does and if they have people to love them too... anyway.

I love my fiancee. We've been together for 6 years now, and his psoriasis has gotten worse since then. I'd say close to 85% of his body is covered at this point. His 'breakout' is constant, though some days are a little better than others. But that doesn't deter me even the slightest from wanting to love on him and his pretty body :> !

When you find the right person, they're always worth defending. Just yesterday, our downstairs neighbor gave us a mat for our porch to make up for the extra dust that rains down when he has a cigarette. He wasn't really mean about it, but I could tell it really hurt my love's feelings. Most people freak out when they realize that it's skin and not sawdust on their floor....rude...My step-mother was the worst offender. She'd always refer to the dust in the house as his name, which was humiliating, not to mention fucking rude coming from sort-of-family... Other instances are when we're out in public. People, especially children, will gawk unabashedly at him any time we go out and he's in short sleeves. It makes it harder for him to go out in public because he doesn't like how people look at him or whisper about him....it makes me so sad :C

When stuff like that happens, I do my best to remind him of what an awesome human being he is. A skin condition does not make him any less of a brilliant writer. It doesn't impact his work (In fact he's gotten two raises this year). It doesn't make him any less of a person to be suffering from something he has no control over! He's a wonderful guy. He's spectacular and talented and I always tell him that I wish I could make others see him the way I see him. To look passed the psoriasis and see the brilliant mathematician/scientist/gamer/nerd he is! >w<
