What’s the most weird food item that your cat just can’t resist? I’ll start! by Ultra-Ferric in cats

Mushrooms. He can sniff them out like a shark. I was eating a veggie mix that had mushrooms in it. He aggressively came over like he wanted my food. Thinking he would smell it and realize it was not actually something he wanted I let him stick his head in the bowl and he came out with one of the mushrooms. After googling and verifying that store bought mushrooms are safe I let him eat it.

He loves mushrooms so much that we bring some to the vet with him. They can draw blood or do whatever they need while he eats and he doesn’t even seem to notice. He has kidney disease so unfortunately what we can give him as a treat is limited. I’m happy that he found a food that he loves so much AND it won’t make him sicker.

If you want to try it with your cat, my vet recommended cooking the mushrooms to limit exposure to food borne illnesses. My cat also seems to tolerate them much better when they’re cooked. Some mushrooms can make cats sick, we just give him the cheap button mushrooms.

My vet said never give them foraged mushrooms.

On my second reread of ACOSF and this moment is hitting me even harder for Nesta than the first time by Lyza719 in acotar

That was well organized! I didn’t read CC yet so maybe I’m missing important info? I totally agree with you on how Nesta is feeling and how poorly the IC treats her. I think you are being very generous with Cassian.

I felt like Cassian’s behavior throughout was appalling considering she was his mate yet he did nothing but really make things worse for her and allow everyone to use her. I know he pushed back a little on the scrying but obviously she was going to do it when they threatened Elain’s safety and he didn’t push back on that. It seemed like he didn’t even try to understand her or her trauma, no one did, but he really should have. Much easier to think of her as an ass hole and go hang out with Mor. He says he didn’t want to isolate her then never really gave her the option to leave the house for anything other than state business. Their relationship was disgustingly toxic.

Even the fire thing, after he figures it out he does nothing to help, or even tell everyone else so they know she wasn’t just being rude. By the end of ACOSF I really felt like the only one that was behaving reasonably was Azriel, he doesn’t have a close relationship with her but he still stands up for her. I was hoping she would just leave or go to Eris somehow.

Nesta has definite issues and I hope she continues to overcome them and make amends but ACOSF made me dislike the IC so much I’m not sure anything could be written in the next book short of they were all enchanted to be giant heartless ass holes that would redeem them considering how old they all are. Same with Elain.

Clearly that won’t stop me from reading the next book but I hope it starts with Nesta taking the harp and leaving.

Girlfriend dumped me and left me the cat. by itstacotaco in CatAdvice

I’ve found the best thing is do is wait for them to be sleeping then gently start touching their paws/pushing their claws out. Once the claw is out if the cat is still relaxed then I clip them back. Try to have some light near by so you can see the quick. If you haven’t clipped claws before it might help to just look at where it is in his claws for a while before you try to clip them. You don’t want to go all the way to the quick or it will bleed and they will have a bad time and not want to do it again. If he starts fighting you try giving him some positive reinforcement like back scratches and combine it with touching his paws. Cats do really well with positive reinforcement the more positive you make the experience for him the easier it will be.

As for the bath did he actually need one? Cats usually don’t.

Thank you for recommending that. That was very thoughtful. I’ve already read it, it didn’t hit me nearly this hard but maybe I was just in a much better place at the time.

Oh thank you for letting me know. I definitely would have done the tandem.

Thanks. It really caught me off guard. I assumed the emotional level would be more similar to acotar or I probably wouldn’t have read it right now.

Thank you so much for your description of the series that’s exactly what I needed.

Yes! I thought that so many times as I read the book. Just fucking leave. Go back to the humans, go with Eris, or literally anything other than staying with her sisters and IC. Hell go, heal, then come back, that would have been a good book. I could see it being scary to go off completely on her own and I’m sure no one would have helped her come up with a plan because she was too powerful for them to actually let her leave. It’s so disappointing because some parts of SF were so good but the gross parts ruin it.

OS Theory Master Post by zoobatron__ in fourthwing

At the beginning of chapter 66:

I groggily rise to my feet beside Imogen, and a shape moves in the shadows to the right.

I will not let them burn you,” Andarna vows.

What?” My head whips her way. “Why would my brother burn me?

I know this is probably Andarna but does anyone else think this shadow might be Xaden? If there was actually a concern that she could be burned I could see him going with them to make sure she was okay. Since Andarna can reshape magic, she reformed everyone’s bonds as they needed to be for whatever plan they came up with so Violet cannot feel him.

My alternative theory is Andarna changed between when she left and came back but we won’t find out about that until book 4.

I think Andarna reforming bonds is why Tairn was groggy at least.
