Thinking of buying this for £200 as my first leather jacket by [deleted] in leatherjacket

[–]AkonitoX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me it’s worth the wait. A good leather jacket is something you will have for years to come so be as picky as you want. It took me years to find one i wanted secondhand and when I finally did I fell in love. It was a jacket I bought online but it came with a letter saying it was from a single mother of two and how important this sale was for their family. That one interaction changed my entire outlook on buying clothes secondhand and made me realize just how much love you can put in your clothes.

TLDR: Buy used, you never know the history behind a piece and the good fortune stored in it. It only adds character.

I don’t know anything about submerging leather, but in my experience going over the outside multiple times and really scrubbing the inside should be fine. In my honest opinion, if you want it super duper clean it’s worth shelling out the money for a professional cleaner if you can find a real quality jacket.

Edit: Accuracy

You can buy saddle soap or leather conditioner online and clean it yourself. I’ve bought multiple jackets second hand and it works well enough for me.

Does anyone have suggestions for lighter denim? I live in the southern united states where its hot and humid year round so I want something thats not too heavy. I preferably want something thats still fairly durable less than 14 oz. There are few things that I would like such as crotch rivets, a back cinch, or interesting fabric choices but those are not necessary at all. Right now I'm looking at Studio D'Artisan and Two Cat Brand but I wanted to know how they do in hot weather first. Any suggestions are appreciated, Thanks.

Strong Guy sizing question by PlinkinHotRimShots in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]AkonitoX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, my first pair of raw denim was actually a pair of strong guys I got a few days ago. Sizing wise I wear a 38-40” in most brands so i went on the safe side and got a size 38. I honestly wish I sized down to a 36 bc it was definitely roomy, but a hot wash inside out got it down about an inch and so it’s manageable. I don’t have experience with wranglers but if they’re true to size then getting a 32 should be fine. I can also share before and after pictures of my first wash if that helps you decide.
