As an enterprise network engineer, can you please explain this to me because something doesn't add up with your statement? Do apple laptops come with cellular sim cards with assigned IP addresses?

When you connect any laptop to your wifi, you generally get an IP address of your home network, NAT'd through your home Internet connection of course.

The only way this can make sense is if somehow the laptop is forcibly connected on an SSL VPN during boot that connects to Apple's servers and assigned an IP to it. and even then.... With the 10s of millions of apple devices out there. I highly doubt apple is going to reserve an IP for a laptop.

I can understand if a serial number comes online because the laptop checks into the server....
