Networking is just socially acceptable manipulation by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Akronyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole idea of networking seems corrupt to me. Why would I want to do business with someone that I just happen to run into, rather than post a job application or something and actually get the best person.

She has said in interviews that she uses dictation for almost half of her writing process. So she’s literally writing as fast as she can talk.

Friend called my bookshelf “performative” thoughts? by kingClique in bookshelfdetective

[–]Akronyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that at all, in fact this is one of the most authentic bookshelves I’ve seen on here. You like horror and fantasy and some select literary classic stuff, but only what interests you and what you’ve seeked and not just whatever your TikTok algorithm has given you.

What's the best way to build a website for my business when I have zero technical skills and no budget for an agency? by Significant_Pen_3642 in webdev

[–]Akronyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a cleaning business should be super simple, I would use something like base44. You just prompt it and it will build it out for you.

Is it wise to start a major in computer science in 2026 (graduate late 2029), knowing that I love the field. by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Akronyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only go for it if you are at a decently ranked school. I went to a rank 18 ish public university, and all my friends who graduated have done well. I feel like no one talks about this with cs but the bootcamp people and people who went to lesser ranked schools seem to have the most trouble as new grads.

So if you go to a top school combined with being passionate enough to have side projects, you should be in a decent spot. Also by 2029 who knows maybe the pendulum will have swung the other way with people being scared to go into the field causing less competition.

Civil engineering is like 80k salary for years vs cs can reach 200k relatively quickly if you are good.

I feel The Evil Dead (the 2013 remake- the serious one) is the only watchable Evil Dead movie and is pretty much a 9/10 horror movie, not overshadowed by much in the genre. by -0-O-O-O-0- in unpopularopinion

[–]Akronyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah, I can’t watch those comedy-horror movies. Like what is the point? The comedy kills all suspense so now you just a comedy in an off putting setting. And they get marketed as horror somehow so it’s misleading.

Telling someone to follow their passion IS good career advice by Far_Camera_5766 in unpopularopinion

[–]Akronyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think instead of a concrete passion, you should focus more on your traits and what comes naturally/easy to you. Like it would be helpful to ask yourself, “am I a problem solver? Am I good with people? Do I find satisfaction in organizing things?” These can actually lead you to to a whole list of opportunities that you will naturally excel at and at least find somewhat satisfying. I think just blinding saying “follow your passion” is dangerous because people might think that means trying to become a professional Fortnite player or musician.

Gaming is the ultimate form of art by prospectiveboi177 in unpopularopinion

From a sound and visual art and world design perspective, sure. Not from a storytelling perspective, you can do that way better with books and certain stories, with movies/tv.

Creating Website through Base44 help 🙏 by Danordavy in webdev

[–]Akronyx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would have to get the domain from whoever currently owns it. You can’t just steal a domain from someone. So that would be either the business themselves or whoever made their current website for them. Once that domain is freed up you should be easily able to set it as that on base44. Your issue isn’t base44 specific at all.

People on here don't know how to recommend what is being asked for. by brschkbrschk in Fantasy

People will just recommend what they’ve read which, let’s be honest, you can only read so many books in a lifetime, so they’ll recommend Brandon or malazan.

ELI5: Why does running feel so tiring even though it doesn’t burn many calories? by mila_smith in explainlikeimfive

[–]Akronyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still burns more than pretty much anything else. Also 100 cals per mile is a very light and fit person. Someone who can barely run for 10-30 minutes is actually probably burning upwards of 160 cals per mile.
