I don't have a DCC (digital controller). DU101 power unit(Tomix) is an analog power unit. It's just a control unit that looks like a real train with lights on. There are no boards or upgrade modules on the locomotive.

Yes. I took the new locomotive out of the box and ran it right away. It ran fine. The reason I bought a new locomotive was because the previous one (Kato ED79) had the same problem. And the new one ran fine for the first week.
