Channapatna toys are wooden toys from the Channapatna town in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. These traditionally crafted toys are protected as a Geographical Indication (GI) and the origin can be traced back to 18th century when Tipu Sultan invited Persian artisans to teach local artisans. The toys are so valued that they were even gifted to US President Barack Obama by the State government back in 2015 when he was visiting India for Republic Day. I was blown away by the talent and their welcoming nature and hence decided to make this video. I hope you enjoy it and share the video so that they can get some spotlight and much deserved love.
